Two of America's top junior lifters compete in 4 days at the IPF Junior World Championships.
Nelson Boutte is 22 years old and squats 565@130 in the vid.
Mike Broussard is 23 years old and squats 575 and benches 425 at 145 body weight in the vid.

They are teammates, training partners, and they follow the same training program. The vids and the program are available at:

With equipment as it is today, unless a lift is raw, it's difficult to understand what a lifter's true strength is. These young guys are low bodyweight fellas, to be sure, and the bars very heavy, but with all attributes as they are presented, I am not as impressed as I should be with such feats.

The world of strength as presented in powerlifting has gotten all skewed.

Is promoting your website allowed on this site? I thought it wasn't. If so, this guy has one post and that post breaks Ron's rule.

Are you saying weiner800 is the kind of guy that insists on spotting his clients on 135 lb ass to grass squats and if they refuse he won't pay for their power briefs and cheque drops?

Sounds to me like spermer800 is the kind of guy gets off on these 2 guys being "teammates" in front of him while a filipino boy dressed as Spartacus sits on his lap.

Plain stupid argument. In every sport equipment is used to gain benefits or advantages. If the equipment in powerlifting is permitted then why not use it?

I didn't suggest the equipment shouldn't be used, if the athlete wants to and his federation allows it. What I did say is, with single and multi-ply lifting, it's difficult to assess an individual's true strength.

Even the single-ply stuff today can add hundreds of pounds.

True, I'm not debating that, but the Mes argued that equipped lifts mean you don't do it yourself. Then who the hell else is lifting it? Also, many of the raw pling records are held by multiply lifters anyways

I hear ya. But it is goofy to suggest an equipped lifter is doing all the lifting. If that were the case, why would the lifts drop SO dramatically when raw? By the way, I am not anti-gear. Just have to keep it real.

As far as some of the raw records being held by sometimes-equipped lifters, well, that could be for a number of reasons: for one, the guys who use multyi-ply stuff are usually the guys who have an at-all-costs mindset. In other words, they drug it up something fierce. That's the biggest reason, likely.

if i used a shirt id bench close to 600 ....
what would be the point....
when raw that would bury me....
shirts = nonsense

Why don't we have F1 drivers run round the track instead then? Cos it's not really them covering the distance when they're in the car  ::) By your logic all sports should be performed naked. Every sport has equipment to benefit the competitor. Powerlifting is no different. I used to be an ignorant rawbie like yourself. I was persuaded to give equipped lifting a try so I opened my mind to the possibility and ended up loving it.

Fortress - that excuse for equipped lifters holding raw records is ridiculous. Most high level powerlifters have an at-all-costs mindset. I don't think that's limited to multiply guys only.

We will just have to agree to disagree here

That's a  dumb argument trying to equate wearing a bench shirt to f1 raccing
F1 racing is about driving skills therefore the driver would need a car
Lifting is about moving weight so in my mind all that should needed is the cucking weight
Not a shirt that helps you bench 200lb extra it's frickin dumb
choice is an illusion

Exactly, and equipped lifting is also about skill in using the equipment too. I hope you never lift with a belt, wrist wraps or straps cos that would help you lift more and that's fricking dumb!  ;)

Ho ho, "Burn2live" is obviously one of these obese guys who lifts wearing triple ply shirts and boasts about how much he benches.  The content of his posts implies a very low IQ.    Assisted lifting is a sport for weak fellows to pretend they are lifting. It's like race car driving on a track with rails on it for the kids and retarded adults to pretend they are driving on.

It's actually not as easy as you think.  THe shirt doesnt automatically add 300 pounds to your bench.  I used to compete in geared powerlifting, and I actually stopped because I think the judging in most geared meets is crap, but it really is not as easy as you think.
