Focus on Cardio & Get Lean Vs. Focus on Weights and Gain Muscle

Lets say that you can't focus on gaining muscle and losing bodyfat at the same time.

Do you focus on cardio and get lean or do you focus on weight training and gain muscle but remain fat?

I had this same problem..didn't know which one to do....but I realized that I was constantly weight training and ignoring the cardio.....and I was getting bigger but so was my stomach...now I have decided to focus on losing fat and I have now begun to do cardio every single day no matter what

Do both. Bulk during the winter months get lean in the summer.

why do people believe they have to do "cardio" to lose weight?  CALORIES IN, CALORIES OUT.  now, maybe it's different if you're trying to get below 6%; i wouldn't know as i have no experience with that.

but to get to 6%, EAT LESS.

No!

If anything you should focus on more challenging cardio like hill sprinting and running with a weighted vest as well as lifting heavier weights

That whole getting fat to get huge thing is so ridiculous

You can get lean in 3 months even if you are fat

To get big takes many years juice or not

Just keep training, stay lean but not too lean so you are eating, and let the size come.

ALWAYS GET LEAN FIRST. THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE IN YOUR SAME SPOT.

IT SUCKS TO GET LEAN CAUSE YOU LOOK FLAT, LIKE YOU DONT WORKOUT, BUT IF YOU CAN SUCK IT UP FOR 12-20 WEEKS DEPENDING ON HOW FAT YOU ARE. TRUST ME, YOU WILL NOT REGRET.

ONCE YOU ARE LEAN, "BULKING" BECOMES NO MORE IT'S JUST STRAIGHT UP LEANER GROWTH AND YOU ACTUALLY SEE THE MUSCLE COMING ON. PLUS YOU WILL FLAT OUT LOOK BETTER.

i thought if you do circuit training lifting routines like 3 to 4 days a week or just adjust your current lifting routines  with little rest in between sets (45 seconds or so)... including supersetting different bodyparts, do cardio every day after lifting weights but alternate between 15 minutes of hard cardio and 15 minutes of leisure cardio on various days (i.e. relaxed cardio after doing legs for instance)....

keep protein very high to high, carbs low to at the most moderate... you could build muscle and lose bodyfat at the same time more or less?...

Ideally it would be nice to do this, but circuit training is notoriously boring and plus you lose strength if you are a heavy lifter like me....because I lift rather heavy, I can't take only 30 seconds of rest between sets....this is the problems I have had...so now I have to do a split routine and do cardio (treadmill and bike) in the morning and then weights at night...it gets my cardio in and satisfies my craving to lift heavy...I only started about four days ago....also to be honest, having a little bit of a gut actually allows you to lift heavier.....all of the guys I lift with including me have lost strength whenever they lose fat around their waist

What a stupid thread.

This obviously depends on where you're at right now. If you're fat get lean. If you're arleady lean then forget about cardio but ffs don't "bulk" just focus on getting stronger while training in hypertrophy range. Your strength gains will indicate growth coz when doing 10+ reps your cns won't adapt that well. It won't happen overnight but over time you will see change.

Also on hormones you can get leaner AND bigger at the same time with limited cardio. I'm doing 3 times 30 minutes of cardio, use med/high fat, med protein, low carb diet. Lost about 10lbs and got much stronger. Finally for the first time in my life I actually look like I lift weights.

Personally as a bodybuilder I would never focus on cardio unless I'm really fat. And as long as I'm lifting weights I can eat 6000 calories a day and just won't get more fat than 18% maybe at which point I still don't have to focus on cardio.
