If anything, breakfast stops the fat burning that has started in the night.
A typical breakfast full of fast carbs and fat is a recipe for disaster, actually for a lot of people it would be better to start the day with a light snack 2 or 3 hours after they woke up, this way also the lunch will be a bit smaller, because you're not so hungry.
(This doesn't apply to bodybuilders who train and know what they should eat!)
