Apparently you missed the part where Maher said to the truckers thank you for being "Christ Like" and not just calling yourselves "Christians".

Yes, he was expecting them to be jerks and to be disrespectful like he was to them, but instead they were kind to him.

Like I said, Maher has freedom of speech and can say whatever he wants.  He is entitled to his opinion about anybody.  But you say Maher has a "deep respect" for people who act "Christ like", yet look at what this thread is about, Maher attacking Tim Tebow and showing no respect for the man. 

I don't know that much about Tim Tebow and I don't follow American football, but from what I have seen, heard and read, Tebow is a devout Christian, a genuinely nice guy who treats everybody with respect.  What has Tim Tebow done to Maher?  Does Tim Tebow not act "Christ like" enough for Maher?

Tebow hasn't done anything wrong......Well except for kind of sucking as a qb.......but i digress.  Maher's first inclination when he sees a high profile athlete's public display of pride as a CHRISTIAN is to attack him and try to mock and discredit the man.  Were the things he said that bad?  No.  But he deserves some flack over it for the sheer fact that everyone knows that he despises Christianity and that he's not doing this for the sake of comedy.  He is a comedian with a "political agenda".  And he's not funny.  Comedy for the sake of mocking those you hate ceases to be comedy.

Great points.  Absolutely no reason for him to ridicule someone like Tebow.  There are plenty of self-aggrandizing athletes he can pick on. 

Maybe if Tebow praised 911 terrorists like Maher did, Maher would become a fan.
