You got me on the "pidgin" English as opposed to pigeons who speak English mistake. Just proves I am not perfect....never said I was either. At least you are smart enough to have figured out what I meant. I give you credit for that. Some folks believe that "Oxford" English is proper English and everything else is just slang. In terms of this, Americans generally do not speak or use Oxford English.
Clowney, you seem to get miffed so easily. People saying hair-on for heroin doesn't offend me in the least. I have no idea where you got idea from. To the best of my knowledge, I don't know people who use heroin, hair-on or smack so how that culture chooses to talk is of no importance to me.
Yes I do know the meaning of the word misconstrue. You seem to have misconstrued what I said with regards to the English language as a put-down to those who use slang or otherwise alter language. In truth, how people speak, speaks volumes about them and frequently "classifies" them in various ways, such as their economic status, education and where they grew up, etc.
I didn't rise from an immigrant ghetto, as you suggest. Of course there is always the off chance my ancestors who immigrated to America from England prior to the Revolutionary War and who also fought in that war, may have lived humbly at first. I cannot imagine that there were ghettos in America back in the 1700's though.
