We are busting your balls. Some cops have nothing to do but roam around. My buddy doesn't have a front plate on his Benz. he didn't want to put the plate holder on it because he didn't want drill it into the bumper. While parked at a restaurant, he comes out and sees a ticket on his car for not having a front plate. Really? he's driven by countless cops for years and none of them cared yet this one cop was roaming the parking lot looking for this? Some are just losers.

well, that's on your buddy. So, basically he knew he was in the wrong (if he got a ticket for not having a front plate, then it's on the books to have one) but was pressing his luck, and getting away with it. And now he's mad.
He needs to suck it up. And he knew that when he got the car, right?
It cost less to have the holes drilled (some dealerships do it for free) than it costs for the ticket (time, money spent going to court, court fees, etc.)

and he found one. One can't complain. It's like a speeding ticket...if the officer catches you and not the others, it's your lucky day.

There is this place near me that is a 4 way stop...and some people don't even stop, they just blow right through the stop sign...well, cops have sat up there and write tickets all day. There were complaints in the paper about how they got tickets and not others---oh well.
It was your "lucky" day.

In Maryland, many of the police cars and some tolls have license plate readers, and they can tell if you are suspended or not---so, an officer may stop you, and you are doing the speed limit, but you are suspended, which is jailable. But, they didn't stop the person who was speeding.

Then you have the "personal" factor, the police officer may have seen that Benz and was jealous, and saw that the car had no front plate, and decided to "teach this person a lesson".
