I used to joke that I would do the job for half of what they paid me. I loved the job. I don't think it's possible to pay what cops are worth for what they are willing to do, but most aren't about the pay as the primary focus. We can say that about a lot of occupations.. teachers, military, prison guards, etc.. There are a lot of occupations that don't pay what they're really worth. but if you sign on for the job and agree to the pay.. you gotta do a good job.. The vast majority do 

I see your point, for me though To risk leaving my kids without a father the pay would have to be well worth it.

Considering the current sorry state of society in the UK (Rotherham, etc), it seems like the UK police might want to consider upping that body count.
