As long as they allow women to be CO's and many do become them, your statement can't possibly hold any truth...

man if you only knew...

Unfortunately, in a capitalist society, profitability WILL and ALWAYS come into play...it is unvoidable.

Exactly. That's why pressure MUST be placed against any temptation to do so.

I understand your concerns, but many have forfeited their rights to be normal citizens, they must earn their right to be accepted back into mainstream society. Recidivism is a huge problem, but the current "business" model for the Judicial encourages it...politicians encourage it, and their is a huge support system that encourages it.

Do you encourage it, Parker?

Work on themselves? You don't deal with criminals do you? Their job description is being a criminal, their resume reflects this...you cannot compel people to work on themslves, they must compel themselves, and only a few do so...and why should they if they have in their minds that they are benefitting from being a criminal?

So you think you'd compel them to lay asphalt or bale hay, but it wouldn't be possible to compel them to present themselves to an educational environment?

Paying people to not produce or delay? And you were talking about someone making a profit? Who pays for this? And why should one pay people do that? It is common knowledge that poor people have lots of kids, the Catholic Church knows this, and encourages this. Look at the most Catholic country in the world, Brazil...look at all those people in the favela..poor people.

No, that idea is right up with paying kids to get good grades...no they and others must be inspired to do better. Inspiration comes in many forms, an ideal, or a leader, or from oneself.

Parker, the idea pays for itself. That's the point.

Unfortunately, that goes against the nature of American society itself.

I can only encourage those who listen---and in today's society, with the internet, people think they know everything. And most importantly, I am a man...which means, the ones who tend encourage said bad behavior patterns are the women in their lives, starting from their mothers to their girlfriends. A man will not listen to another man if the women in their lives co-sign on their behaviors...Would you listen to someone trying to tell you and show you how to do right, or some tail? Or your mother makes excuses for your behavior?

I agree with Steve Harvey that men respond to pain, consequences and rewards. Bailing hay and doing asphalt are the consequences for their actions, and it maybe "painful' as in a good workout. Men, who do bad in today's society are generally "rewarded" by their mothers and girlfriends and to an extent the Judicial system---Probation, etc.

I hear you.  But there's no untangling motive from profit, so...

Just a FYI: the prisoners are only refusing to eat state food. They still eat the shite food they get from the canteen ex: honey buns (no homo), ramen and kool aid. Additionally, thr still have access to toilet gin, heroin and Gakic.
