I do spend time at the gym, I think it's currently a matter of bad planning. I've rescheduled to head for the gym straight after work. My plan is to aim for 80-90 minutes of training, split 50/50 between cardio and weightlifting.
Also, one problem is keeping my girlfriend happy. Heading for the gym before work was out of question as she would be woken. Basement dwellers here will probably yell "be alpha and smack her to obedience", those others with significant others know how stubborn these can be at times.
I simply had to abide, so early afternoon it is then, all in accordance with the will of the master of the house.
Another thing which I have realised now, rather late I might add, is that I haven't really matured mentally. Previously, while studying, I now realise how incredibly selfish and entitled I was. I now realise that I have to man up and do what I have to do. Diet and training first, the rest will have to come second.
I got in my best ( drug free) shape when I was married, and working as a full time HS chemistry teacher and football coach, 21 yrs ago.
I ran hard each morning for 20 min , after a brief 5 min slow jog ( for cardio) on an empty stomach.
I trained 4 days a week, similar to the Yates " Blood and Guts" type of workout.
My actual diet, was Healthy Choice microwave meals with some added protein drinks .
Sergio Olivia used to work 10 hrs a day in a steel foundry , then lift for 2 hrs at the no frills Duncan YMCA in Chicago.
Ronnie was a full time cop , training at the very basic Metro Flex gym , for his couple Mr Olympia wins.
NOBODY, has to be a lazy bum or do g4p to train for bodybuilding.
