Did the deficit go away or something?   Last I knew -the IMF was warning us and S&P about to downgrade out debt.

now you really are out of your mind......Clinton left us huge surplusses......of course he got a little lucky due to the boom caused by the internet.....but nevertheless Bush squandered this through his unneeded tax cut , unfunded wars and drug prescription bill....I say this as a Bush supporter...but its the truth

and here's another....and this one is from Bloomberg financial....and you are a big supporter of Bloomberg and his business genius...and this comes from him..this article plainly states that Clinton left office with very high surplusses and that Bush's unfunded programs spent all of it and left us with a deficit..egg on your face again

here is the link....Clinton had huge suplusses

http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/during_the_clinton_administration_was_the_federal.html

from the article:

Clinton's large budget surpluses also owe much to the Social Security tax on payrolls. Social Security taxes now bring in more than the cost of current benefits, and the "Social Security surplus" makes the total deficit or surplus figures look better than they would if Social Security wasn't counted. But even if we remove Social Security from the equation, there was a surplus of $1.9 billion in fiscal 1999 and $86.4 billion in fiscal 2000. So any way you count it, the federal budget was balanced and the deficit was erased, if only for a while.

and a rebuttal using Treasury.gov figures.

He didn't want to cut anything during the "budget deal".

His budget calls for running large deficits for the next decade+. For shit sake we've already been through this.

I agree with you that he was reluctant to cut...and the Republicans pushed him into more cuts than he wanted..but he still gets credit because he could have just scuttled the whole thing and then vetoed it....I am not saying that the Repubs don't deserve credit as well

So I probably will vote dem. i'd love to see Obama choose a Wes Clark for a running mate, or a Jim Webb, possibly more likely, for strong military and defense credibility.

My whole family - all Republicans - are voting Obama.  i'm driving them to the station later - buying everyone dinner - making it a real family event.
