$800 laptop- equivalent specced desktop $400. Add wireless keyboard with trackpad or wireless mouse, portable as you need.

This puppy is reduced to $800 and that doesn't include the keyboard cover. I have one which I seldom use. It is very fast though.

I have a desktop now because I bought a laptop a few years ago and it only lasted about a year and a half before it clunked out on me. For me it is for the durability....a desktop will generally last much longer than a laptop. Laptops will last about 3 years tops if you use them everyday.
My laptop is still going after 5 years with daily use.

Same here. All the desktops we've had had lasted 5-6 years. Laptops have lasted roughly 3 years, spot on.
