If that truly is Brian, it's a bit surprising, but he's obviously just living a normal life.
At 5'9.5" and 210-lb in 1988 [they weighed in that year...I think Brian was 210-lb], that physique would be awesome for day-to-day life. There is a guy in my city who is the same height and around 185-lb who competes in men's physique - and Brian basically had 20+ lb of pure muscle on him, and a smaller waist.
That must have been a rush sporting that physique around in his prime. Eyes would have been turning everywhere he went.
And yeah...I would bet money on his waist being under 30". My waist is 29.5" when I am in shape at 170-lb [by strongman standards...NOT bodybuilding], and I would say for sure that Brian's waist is a few inches smaller than mine.
That said, my waist measurement only hits below 30" when I pull the tape in hard. A looser measurement may be 31" or somewhere around there. But I would be willing to bet money that Brian's waist is under 30". I think in one photo, he needed a pin to keep his trunks on. Much like a pin that parents used to use for cloth diapers worn by babies...or...still use? Not sure, I always used Pampers for my babies.
Ah, leave it to my now-defunct bodybuilding website to have the answer...Brian did compete in 1988 at 210-lb. It was Rich Gaspari who I have listed here at 209-lb, and I wasn't sure if I confused the two. Although if I recall correctly, Rich weighed in at 209.5-lb. Could be a false memory though. I talked to Rich, and always thought he was 222-lb in 1987. I asked him - and he was. Rich must have looked quite the freak when he was competing as well. Gaspari in his prime was as hard as a railroad spike.
It took me so long to crop all these screen caps, lol. I remember calling Flex Wheeler one night, and he didn't even know the crop option was a feature of any technology. I had cropped the photos of his second DVD where he had a gut in some angles, and he e-mailed me, and I decided to call him to apologize. Flex said he respected me, because so many people talk shit behind a computer screen, but refuse to talk to pros in person.
If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, why say it online? And that applies to Buchanan too. The guy is just out living his life. He must be around 56 now. Come on, that's under 20 years from now for me. We don't stay young forever. Well - maybe most Getbiggers do, but not all of us.
