You served and did what they wanted with you. I respect that. My father served in World War II and when they found he was an amazing chef the generals wanted him to be their chef. That was his job. He never sought that job. Every cog in the military machine makes the machine work.
Thanks Stunt,
I signed up to be a "combat engineer " *( explosives ordinance M.O.S.) and ended up in finance. 100% serious.
In all modesty, I did well on the ASVAB and even maxed out the math part.
About half way thru boot camp, I got called in to the Company CO's office.
Capt said ; " I know you signed up for explosives , but the USMC wants you to change your MOS.
Me ; " Sir? This recruit is confused and was informed his MOS was a guaranteed ? "
Capt ; " It is. But we want you to allow us to break your contract. If you agree
we will give you a $1500 bonus upon completion of your new MOS school training.
Me ; " What school or job will this recruit be reassigned to? " ( I'm pumped and assume this is some high level stuff

)
Capt ; " You'll be in military finance . Ok, so what do you say?"
Me ; " The recruit accepts, Sir ." ( I was a tad bummed out ,but wtf. )
LOL, oh well, at least I didn't blow myself or anyone else up .
