it’s a new program - they have cognitive health specialists and dietitians they have access to as well

they are hiring strength coaches, athletic trainers, and nutritionists currently

Thanks for the thread and shout out.
I was active duty 4yrs USMC and 2 years reserve, highest rank Sgt E-5. * 40+ years ago.

Never saw combat or did any  heroic stuff, etc.
For 4 months TDY, I was assigned  security detail for the base ammo storage facility.

Out of respect for those who served in combat, I wouldn't BS my record to sound ballsy on getbig LOL.

My dad was US Navy , gunners mate , on a carrier in the S. Pacific during the summer of 1945.
He was also in combat on a similar ship during the Korean War .
After 8 years in the Navy, he went back to school and  spent 30 years as a structural integrity engineer .
working the hulls of nuclear subs.

I consider my ( deceased ) father a genuine war hero and true patriot.
I'm just an old douchebag that signed up and served my time , for better or worse.

You served and did what they wanted with you. I respect that.  My father served in World War II and when they found he was an amazing chef the generals wanted him to be their chef.  That was his job. He never sought that job. Every cog in the military machine makes the machine work.

CATACHO, Thanks!

USMC here. !3 months in NAM.

Interesting story which a  writer has been developing a screen-play   in which I requested 98% accuracy ... and to which he agreed.

The 98% true and interesting part of that tour was my adoption into the US Army 101st Airborne  ... and why that took place  is what the screenplay is based on ...... along with other crazy shit that happened there .... and thereafter.

The 2% iinacurrate part is the final scene in which one of the main characters blows his brains out while waiting for someone to answer  the 'suicide prevention hotline' ...and  gets a busy signal..... which ties in with the 22 suicides a day among military vets, etc.

Cat, I'll  send you a copy if it ever gets done.

Or the incomplete version if you're really interested.

Well done, stunt!  My father served in Korea and was also a riverboat captain in Vietnam.  I had cousins serve in 'Nam too.  I was not allowed to join due to not being smart enough.  Strong enough?  Oh yes, I was.  But it was just as with trying out for law enforcement, I was not intelligent enough and there were other physical problems too.  I would go take the physical tests to make my point but even I understood (especially after my mom explained it to me) why I was not ever going to be in the military, law enforcement or even a fireman.  Departmental reasoning on why was sound and as I said, once explained to me, I agreed.  But I still could not resist showing them what they were missing from the physical aspect.

Thanks for responding. SCOTT.

Interesting about your dad serving in two wars.

It's remotely possible that I was in or under one of those Vietnam rivers while he was cruising by, but I bet ya that his river was way south of where in the hell we were .... way up north a bit south of Hue.

APOCALYPSE NOW was based on what your dad's duty involved and I had the opportunity to discuss with Martin Sheen his role in that movie including some of the shit that he was not aware of.

To be completely honest with ya .... I don't recall who was responsible for those river patrols .... Army, Navy, or USMC?

Smarten me up if you will

PS,,, The part which Brando played was actually based on reality but we never found that guy. A Marine by the way, but not an officer.

The IQ level minimum was just above 80 at that time I believe.

My mother had me tested a lot. I have never been above an 80. I know I'm not very smart and I have dealt with it as best I can.

Which IQ test did you take? You seem way above 80 just by your writing style alone.
