Phone calls are hard for lip readers.

Louie was only an infant in the crib,

and he developed this ear infection.

We didn't know it at the time until Louie was about three years old, we found out that he was hard of hearing.

That's why he never took an interest in things... other kids would take an interest in, like television.
He was late learning to speak and everything.

Louie became a lip  reader.

"Boom, Look at this hunk of man, you try it Louie"   ::)
"Louie liked to read the Muscle Books"...

It’s impressive he got such big calves not doing any calf exercises

Yeah, glutes and hams were soft, calves were full of something.  Definitely full of shit.

But everything else looked incredible.

His comeback was odd. He looked great in the open Olympia but placed like 10th then went to the Masters O and lost to Robby and looked a little stringy Definitelynot as good as he did in the open the previous year. Then he was gone from tge stage again. So his entire pro career was what? 4 shows? The 74 O the 75 O the 93 O and the 94 Masters O?

He's achieved an astonishing level of fame for a guy who only did 4 pro shows and was on a laughably bad TV series that was canceled 40 years ago. Not to mention his movie career which would've sunk anyone else's career.  I mean his films aren't just bad. They're horrible.

Great point.  He's a pop culture icon for some odd reason, even though it's been 40-50 years since his brief heyday.

Gotta think his role in Pumping Iron did a lot for his fame

There was only one pro show in the IFBB back in the day: The Olympia. That's why a number of bodybuilders competed in NABBA as well.

The Incredible Hulk was considered a successful series, running six seasons. For comic book aficionados, it was the first time a Marvel Comics character actually crossed over successfully on TV (although, the executive director said he had to de-couple some of the series from the comic book roots. Hence, one of the reasons the character's name was changed from Bruce Banner to David Banner).

You may recall that Ferrigno's 90s comeback was originally with the WBF. But, three months before the 1992 championship (and "coincidentally" when the WBF started their strict drug policy), Ferrigno bailed. He competed in the 1992 Olympia, where he placed 12th.

I've always thought your views on training/natural bodybuilding were dumb but I appreciate your knowledge of bodybuilding history :)

So....Should big Louie be disqualified 30 years later ?

Or it doesn't matter because bodybuilding is a heavily fraudulent activity ?

WoooSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHH

The same reason why many Getbiggers hate MCWAY's advice on training.

I think it has to do with pocketing 20 dollar bills for autographs. That's pretty hard to imagine being that niggardly. I mean, you're Lou fucking Ferrigno and a fan asks for your autograph. You don't answer 'yeah, sure' or 'no problem, here you go.' You answer 'twenty dollars.' Then stand there awkwardly while the smile fades from your fans face as they dig through their wallet for petty cash.

But even if you snap a pic on your phone at a comic con, not standing with him, not shaking hands, no autographs but just a candid pic-even from a distance- he or his little louser team will still ask for their money.

It's actually pretty pathetic.

Then there was that time he sued his own brother for using his own last name.

You just can't keep my name out of your mouth, particularly when you're making up BS that I never said.

The advice that you don't take (from lots of folks) is about your sorry diet, which is why you're reduced to a twig once the syringes are gone.

Ferrigno's explanation, for what it's worth, was that the other bodybuilders wouldn't make any money at the expos. If Lou gave away his photos, the fans would expect all the other pros to give theirs away as well. He can absorb the cost; they can't.

I don't think it's just the money for pics, he's just an unsympathetic character, from his facial expression to his behavior. Just not very likable. It's the same type of phenomenon with Jason Genova. He's retard, he can't help his handicap but he's still unlikable. Many people wouldn't make fun of the average retard but Genova isn't very sympathetic.

Louie had problems with his brother having a gym named "Ferrigno's Gym" and he especially had problems with the gym walls being green lol. It was a reference to the Hulk but still, why not let your brother in on the action, what does it matter.

I remember lou posting as lord vader on ironage boasting that he was the heaviest competitor ever on stage, he outweighed arnold by so many pounds blah blah blah. Arnold didnt need to weigh so much to look more muscular, thicker,  more refined.
Lou came back with smaller arms, a bigger belly and  fake calves so no real improvement on his 70's showings.
He had a couple of other handles on there he'd post from,  as if a few were bigging lou up, very sad.

Brutal if true
