I have watched an interview of Ronnie Coleman where without hesitation he states that give the "technology" of today, no one would be capable of defeating Arnold. Not him. Not Yates and definitely not Haney.
There may have been "more" people showing up to compete in Haney's time but that doesn't mean anything really. People didn't show up to compete against Arnold because he was that much better.
Haney is a nice, family man. Arnold is a cuck of a douche. But Haney is as much of a liar when it comes to "stayroids". I recall when Haney was asked about competing against Arnold and his reply was something about Arnold being fortunate not to have competed in the "age of Haney".
Haney wouldn't stand a chance much less stand in the way of Arnold and his relentless determination coupled with what must surely be the most gifted response to drugs ever. The interview with Ronnie was an eye opener for me. I still think he was stupid to destroy himself but he is Ronnie and that was his life. All of his life and his choice.
But Ronnie said in interview that Arnold on a modern protocol would make him (Ronnie) "look like a little kid" standing next to the Oak. No one could come close. I think he is correct because decades later, there is Arnold and then the rest.
Again, Haney is a much better family man. But that doesn't make him a better bodybuilder, just a better man. And there is honor in that.
