pre-exhaust
« on: August 24, 2006, 09:36:25 PM »
Has anyone here tried  lifting smaller muscle groups before larger ones.  An example would be training biceps before back or triceps before chest.  My reasoning being that everyone recruits muscle differently and your body is going to lift weight the most efficiently it can.  So if your doing a bench press you may be recruiting much more triceps then pecs, resulting in not reaching your potential for targeting the chest.  Has anyone felt that their triceps are the dominant factor in doing benches?  Has anyone tried to exhaust the triceps before doing bench press so that they are unable to help the chest as much and therefore making the chest do a higher percentage of the work.  If so I would like to hear if you have made gains in the chest, or back area by training the smaller synergistic muscles directly before training the larger prime movers.

Ya, have done tri's before chest and you cannot lift like what you normally can fresh. Having your delts burnt out is the same way with chest, but you have more demand of the chest ultimately giving you a better result without the heavier weight.  Remember the weight is just a tool, its all about how you use it.    Train to be a winner.

exactly. and I love it. I'll pre exhaust every few workouts. I recommed it to anyone. You will get so sore and doing your core excersises after being really warmed up and fatigued feels really different.
