Beach Bum, the Dungy argument about TB being "his team" is a double edged sword.  Why couldn't he win the big one with the same talent that Gruden had?  See what I'm saying?  And I think Dungy is a very good NFL coach.

I think he could have won with the talent he assembled.  Tampa had one of the best D's in NFL history that year.  I don't think it's a coincidence that Dungy turned Tampa around and has turned Indy into one of the best teams in the NFL.

Good post. I think Dungy's defense has matured and should be a bit tougher to score on this year.  I'm interested to see what they do without Edge though.  Peyton can only be as good as his running game.  If they don't have that balance in the running attack, defenses are going to load up and come after him.

Thanks.  Losing Edge is huge IMO.  Rhodes is a good back though and Addai should be okay.

As I said, Edge won't make a huge difference; as long as their line holds up they can get adequate running from others.

They have to replace about 1800 total yards and 10 TDs.  Won't be easy at all.

Hope you're wrong BB, but stats show Manning should do fine w/o Edge. Again I have Manning and Harrison as a tandem for FFL so I hope they rock!

Manning folds under pressure, if you put a good blitz on peyton he crumbles to dust... the man has no pocket presence when the pocket collapses... i mean i understand he isnt a scrambler. reason being the man is top heavy.. with a head that big he would fall on it if he tried to run....haha. and the record wouldnt have been beaten had they not softened recieving rules...

I think Manning will get his (regular season) yards with or without a running game, but I don't think they get a ring without a solid running game.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......tough one there. IMO it's the defense that really matters more than what they have on offense. Can't really think of a team that had a MEDIOCRE defense winning any SB.

And only a handful of teams with a mediocre offense have won Super Bowls.  I've never believed that "defense wins championships" cliché.  You have to be good on both sides of the ball.  Just look at Chicago last year.  Awesome on D, sucked on O.  Bounced out of the playoffs.

Just realized that the game was a Monday night and adjusted the title of thread.

This game will be good. Giants are may win the division again this year. The NFC East division is very close this year. The Giats have a rough schedule.

The showed last year that they could adapt over the previous year. The team will be improved at least slightly in all areas as long as the O-line doesn't collapse after that playoff game, in which case running will be at least adequate.

-Offense will be better given their experience.

-Defense better still given another year's experience.

-Kicking improved.

= Better team, unless psychological baggage from last year carries over. They might not  look as dominant because the Giants are also better.
