I am a contractor and I own a BMW and a Toyota truck. About 2 years ago I hired my good friend to be my foreman and help me with my business. I let him use my Toyota truck because he had no car, and I needed him to be at work and be able to meet me on different site locations in my area where I live. Anyway, I told him he could use the Toyota truck I am still making payments on if he paid the monthly insurance on the truck because I never drove the truck and with him using it I could make more money with his help by him driving it. About 2 months ago, I found out he stopped making the payments on the insurance and now I am getting billded the payments. I want my truck back and it's in my name but I cant report it stolen because I let him use it and now his cell phone is turned off and I know he still lives in the same area I just am not 100 percent sure where. Any advice on how I can get it back. Again the truck is mine and in my name. Since the police wont let me report it stolen should I call a Repossesor? Anyone ?

If you only let him BORROW the truck and it's still in your name, after a certain amout of time he hasn't returned it when you asked for it, it's considered stolen, remember you lent him the truck you didn't give it too him.

Why did you give him the truck anyway and not add him to the policy??

Hey Jedi I know for a fact when you call the police just tell them you would like to report a stolen vehichle. when they ask for info tell them you would like to file a police report and send an officer over... when the officer arrives tell them that your truck is stolen you believe you know who has it, but have no gurantee you cant find the truck or the man who used it last... that is stolen.. if it is yours in your name and you cannot get it back that is stolen my friend... plus if he wrecks the truck and kills someone you could be at fault, even at less if he wrecks it you will be at fault which means that it is stolen because he has it without your permission.... simple as that you dont get in trouble for beating the punks ass and you get your truck back hope that helps.

Thanks SinCity.. Yeah I actually did some research and found the guy and my truck. This morning I called the police again and retold my story and they said that I still could not report it stolen because I let him use it regardless if he used it longer than I let him. They basically said that he had embellzed it and they would give my case to a detective.And then it would take a few weeks. Anyhow, I kinda sweet talked the lady cop who I talked to and she found his address for me and I went over there. To make a long story short, the guy ended up buying the truck from me, in fact I just got back from the bank. Thanks
