Just like last year, the gym has been fairly empty during the holidays. Bally was closed on Christmas Day. But, it will be open on New Year's Day, only at 8:00 instead of 5:30 A.M.

Once again, in a week or two, the New Years' Resolutionist crew will be bum-rushing the gym, initially eager to whittle off those Christmas pounds.

My goals in 2006 were a bit different than they were in 2005:

- I dropped 11/2 inches off my waist.

- My back and calves have improved.

- My arms are a bit smaller, but they look better, as I am leaner.

- Strength-wise, my lifts are up almost across the board. Overall, I'm stronger at 225 than I was at 250.

Bodybuilding-wise, 2006 was good for me. I hope 2007 is even better, not only for me but for all the GetBig folks here.

I hope you all had a MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Eat, Drink, Be Massive, and may God Bless You ALL!!!

I'm already scared...I hate how crowded the gym gets but in a month they're gone. I'm already planning to adjust my schedule for the month of January (I'll be going later during the week & earlier on the weekend).

I figure you have the first week of January, before they hit the gym in full force. If you live in a college town, that may play a factor into the crowdedness of the place.

Oh snap!!!

Didn't you ask me to re-scan one of the pages awhile back? I completely forgot about that, for which I apologize.

I hope you can get some good workouts done, before the resolutionists hit your gym.

 ;D

I went earlier (Monday night) and, at best, there were 7 people in the gym. My first workout of 2007 and I felt great.

Because it was New Year's Day, I expected there to be few people in the place. By next week, however, the rush begins.

The same thing happened to me. The gym was dead last night. Had a great workout but I think part of that might have been because I haven't lifted in a little over a week because I was really sick. I'm hoping for another good one tonight if the revolutionaries have swamped the gym already.

There are a few in my gym but I always end up seeing the same ones from last year that are there between Jan-March; april if they are really good.  And then they disappear again.  None of them are ever in shape ever. Its sad.  Ive heard people say they just dont have the time wich is bullshit.  Everyone has the time.  If your not body building you can at least stay in shape a half hour or so a day. and watch your diet.  I have no sympathy for people who say they want to loose weight or be in shape and do not do anything about it, or try and quit.  They then tell me but you spend so much time in the gym.  Im tell them yes but Im bodybuilding and need more time than just staying in shape.

People make excuses for themselves so if anyone out there is reading this and say you dont have the time.  Look in the mirror and tell yourself bullshit.

Yes the HasBeens or the NeverWeres will now flood the gym thinking they are going to acutally do something with themselves.  It sucks because so many of them don't know gym ediquite.  They don't put their weights back on the racks, and they never put their dumbells back where they are supposed to go.  Nothing worse than finding the 5's where the 50's should be.  I wish there was a gym what required you to workout so many times a week to maintain your membership, that way we wouldn't have to deal with this.

look at it as a good thing; they subsidize the rest of us by paying their dues but not showing up

one of the trainers at the gym where i go told me he made about 60% of his annual earnings in the first 3 months of the year.

Just got back from training legs today. And, from the looks of things, the resolutionists are piling up.

Fortunately, I've been getting to the gym a bit later than usual. So, the equipment-hogging hasn't taken place yet.

Boy, am I glad I'm not training at the other Bally, where I renewed my membership. I'd NEVER get anything done. One guy I'm sure is happy about the new surge of people is the curly-headed latino dude who's about 6'4" that teaches the dance class on Tuesdays (my leg day).

I call him "Salsa guy".

At my gym the first week in January was VERY quiet, but this week the noise and crowd level has escalated. Since I workout in the evenings, it requires alot more waiting time now to get to the equipment... so I am doing more track running/walking lunges or other body weight/resistance band/core stuff and really limiting my weight needs and time for lifts to 30 minutes as opposed to 45-55.

BTW, I wouldn't mind if folks were actually using the stuff --but they take it-- and stand around talking to each other about their resolutions---and don't do anything related to lifting the weight---but... they ARE "coming to the gym" after all. LOL.

I am consoled about one thing though-- as in the past --in another few weeks the crowds and most 2007 resolutions soon will pass...and it will be me and the other resident gym rats alone there ---but not soon enough.

That's how my leg workout was yesterday with some jackass skinny asian taking a nap in between sets of half squats.  Ever since a week ago the gym has been flooded.  To add to it, the AC doesn't work and they have swamp coolers which only blow hot air thats already in the gym.  It's a nightmare.

Ahh you too must be a member of 24 hour fitness.  I swear corporate is turning off the AC to reduce overhead and increase profits.  I F#$King hate 24 hour fitness, they don't give a shit about their customer's comfort.
