Having a hard time working obliques evenly...
« on: February 07, 2007, 09:30:25 PM »
I've been doing side bends, cable twists and such.  I'm having a hard time getting my right side flexed.  They don't look disportioned right now, but my left side feels like its getting worked when I'm trying to work my right side.  I try my best to think about my right abs and obliques, but nothing seems to be working.  Should I just give up on doing them and just do straight up abs before my left side gets huge?

If they don't look disproportionate, why are you worrying? :)

Your left side stretches when you tense your right side. So, maybe you're not used to all that stretching. Warm up before doing any exercise. Are you doing it correctly?

Not much need to work obliques directly but when you do, try side bends all done just to one side as the first half of the set, then after finishing all reps do all to the other side as the other half. Same idea can be applied to other exercises like twists.

Keep the reps high, not too much weight or you'll increase the muscle size there.
