right leg in a cast for 6 weeks
« on: March 10, 2007, 10:14:15 PM »
whats goin on is on the 20th of this month i have to have my right ankle reconstructed. and i've been wondering what my training is gonna be like for the six weeks i'm casted up. my doc has already cleared that i keep lifting but he ain't mentioned anything about leg training. from what he's told me i'm guessin things like extensions, curls, and maybe leg press oughta be fine. but hows this gonna work with doin deads or bent rows? the doc said its ok to put weight on it straight down but not to go too much with it. i need a little help here. seems insane havin to have this surgery and whats it gonna do to my training.

you dont need to start a whole new program but just modify the weights., to lighter weight or  even machineswith a stack or a smith machine. you should use  lighter weight b/c you can't balance yourself on one leg.  you this time to shock your mucles. like pre-exhaus, superset and etc or do  100 reps a set.. just dont let the cast get in your wau.. your not doomed at dude. just find a new way to  make your muscle work.

without your legs, everyones weak. i had a friend that had to wear a brace of he's knee and could  not even do half the weight he normal do b/c he couldn't drive up  from the  legs

I would normally suggest dooing crunches and reverse crunches but in your cease reverse crunches might make your lower abs  uneven b/c of the weight of the cast. you may wan to do a decine crunch to hit the lower abs without your legs  in it. if you want you can add some side crunches or twisting crunches...

also use this period to bulk up  a lil if you need it..

sounds like a plan. but for reverse crunches might it work to add an ankle weigh to the left side. balance out the weight?

I always recommend weighted  for ab work but for you tho. if you do reverse crunches on the floor. i recommend that you dont unless you can match up pound for pound of your cast and the weights. bc on side will get uneven.. you can put a plate on your chest on decine crunes

I only recommend the weight ab work for ppl that dont  genetically have a big waist..

you should may  do abs a lil more on the 6 week period b/c your not doing the deads or squats and lower that works your abs indirctly may 2-3 times a week.

What does 6 weeks mean in a lifetime?
Eat clean, train with light weights to keep mentally busy or don't do nothing at all and make sure to recover.

you've got a point in that. but i can't hardly sit still long enough to have a conversation with my gf much as i love her she still gets annoyed by it.
