« on: May 20, 2007, 04:51:11 AM »
Well what do you guys reckon. I'am currently doing this and it seems good but do you think i should just pick one of them or continue using both?
No doubt about it...

down to preference I would say alternate between shoulder workouts or use one for an extended period and then when you feel like you are in a plateau, change.

I simply do not see the need to do both on the same day personally, but as always its not the same for everyone.

Agree with yourmaaaa on the other hand IF you're getting a good vibe continue to do both-it's like doing compound supersets using two similar but not identical exercises.

You may want to include both for all around shoulder development (at least front and lateral heads). Military presses will target the anterior head and the lateral head to a lesser degree. DB presses (depending on how the hands are placed for the most part) will target the lateral head and the anterior head to a lesser degree. DB's will also insure an equal amount of balanced development and strength. Most people will favor one side over the other with a BB, though they may no be aware of it. DB's give an equal work load to each side.

If you want a all around pressing-pulling delt workout, than might try doing the military press and up-right rows in training. Exchange DB's for both or either exercises if you wish, for the sake of variety. Good luck.

IMO,more than one pressing movement is redundant.

Concentrate more on lateral and rear heads and alternate the pressing exercises weekly.

One thing I do at times is after my shoulder routine is completed,I take and do one set of a pressing exercise for higher reps to failure to kind of finish them off.

Cool thanks guys, i think ill just keep doing military presses and yeah focus more on rear and lateral heads as my front delts seem to be a fair bit more developed than them.Cheers.
No doubt about it...

Myself I always to both but I do dumbells for power, lower in range and lower in reps.  I then do smith BB in front of the neck higher reps and BB behind the neck shallower range of motion very high reps.
