Before joining Getbig all I did was live and breathe bb for myself, but I never attended a show/event...more power to those that do though.   After joining Getbig my initial thought was I'd connect with others that share my similar passions....that did happen to some extent.   The part I didn't count on was learning about the real bb lifestyle.......now I have little to no interest in competitive bb.....and the irony is Getbig did that for me.   The drugs, the g4p, the death, the egos, the eeking through life, the empty promises, the destruction of your body, the true lack of self-esteem in most competitors, etc.....I don't buy mags anymore, I don't watch the competitions, I have no interest in shelling out a dime for merchandise....now I check Arnold results, O results and National results and that's it......for the most part I feel as though I've wasted time investing myself in the sport so heavily when I much more clearly understand how the competitors "do what they do".  Hell, I rarely post about bb anymore on Getbig and I never visit any other bb sites like I used to.   I enjoy the training and nutrition info here and talkin with other members but that's about it.   I've come full circle in my bb experience and I'm right back to where I started......doing it just for me.

I feel the same way. I have come full circle. I too bought into the bullshit the industry fed me. I think what did it for me was seeing the shape of most pros off juice. That made me realize all the bullshit supplement companies and mags were promoting. What lies. Too bad.

The internet is destroying Bodybuilding the way it destroyed Scientolgy. Good people are coming forward and exposing the lies and corruption behind these behomeths. about his child abusing shiit....Its got to stop here, and I am suprised Ron lets it continue. If he did indeed post something inappropriate the moderators should have caught it and deleted it and removed him, if they did not they need to be retrained.

Accusing someone of something this heinous is a serious crime in itself. There are a lot of innocent men who lives were ruined during the child abuse hysteria of the late 80's and early 90's. Janet Reno, then Chief Prosecuter in Dade County in Florida put many  innocent men behind bars because she bought into the hysteria. She believed crack pot child 'therapists' who coereced children into lying and of course she wanted to make a name for herself at their expense. These poor men (and women) are finally having their convictions overturned and are getting out now but their lives are ruined.  

We need to find a solution to pedophilia, but what scientist or doctor would want to touch it, when there are hysterical people out there making false accusations at the drop of a hat.  If people are really concerned about child molestation they should be looking to science to find a cure or at least a succeessful treatment. But nobody wants to get involved, nobody wants to touch it. The hysteria and false accusations have to stop. Too many innocent men and women have been falsely accused.

His post was excellent but in my opinion much of the negative atmosphere on the boards comes from those tha never compete or even attend shows.

True, but it is also true that most people that go to shows are somehow vested in the industry in some form or another and their view of it is highly biased.  The audience is made up of photographers (amatuer and pro), competitors and would be and wanna be competitors and buisness men, gym owners, sponsors etc.. Not a very subjective group.

One thing i do agree is that pictures on the internet do not give a fair view of a competitors actual physique in person. Competitors should really not be judged to harshly by a photograph and if people really want to critique a physique they should see it in person on stage.

MOS is pretty much on with his post, most of the reasons he said is the reason I stopped competing in 91'. If you've kept up with it for as long as I have, you can see a steady moral decline over the years, and hang on.........it's only going to get worse. As for the G4P, it's an excuse for bodybuilders who say they're straight to come out of the closet and express they're true sexuality and the fact they are just to damn lazy to get a decent job, it's a sad situation fellas!

the problem I have is you bashing opinions. what i like about this board is that it is largely uncensored. i don't agree with some opinions here, but if there is one thing that will never ever become redundant and that is the right of expression of opinion.

guess what, if bodybuilding contests couldn't be judged/analysed/disected, etc after the show there would be no more shows! or maybe you didn't notice how few were in the audience.

put it this way, at a boxing/mma match i can guarantee you that 99% of the paying customers, including those in the audience, have NEVER had a single bout, yet every one of them has an opinion. they will tell you what this guy should of done, what he did wrong, etc, etc, but the simple irrefutable fact is that most of them wouldn't have the foggiest idea.

does that mean they are not entitled to an opinion? hell no, they are the paying customers, they are the reason why we have the bout in the first place. of course their opinion matters.

gotta take the good with the bad Howie and that's why Getbig is cool.
