Im a bit confused......which head of the bicep does dumbell curls hit? long or short?

every curl, regardless of type works the whole biceps.... you cannot contract one of the heads without contracting the other

Some seem to have confused EMPHASIZING certain areas as opposed to ISOLATING that area, which are two different concepts.  In terms of emphasizing an area, yes it is possible or people would do one exercise for every muscle group (which works for some, e.g GVT, 5X5). 

Arnold used BB curls for mass, Incline curls for mass, Concentration curls for Peak, Seated DB curls for Shape.

Lower biceps can be emphasized using preacher curls, upper biceps through peak contraction exercises (cable curls, crossover curls,etc), outer heads with close grip, inner head with wide grip.

your point has merit, but for a muscle group as small as the biceps it may simply be true that some exercises helped person 'x' acheive 'x' level of development...

the biceps are not nearly as complex as a group like the upper back, upper legs, or even the chest

Not nearly as complex but sometimes twice as stubborn.   8)

But seriously, some can just curl a barbell all day and grow and others need variety to fill out different areas.  I'd like to just barbell curl, and maybe I should, but I think some sort of development might suffer.

i do 6 sets of 10-12... and they look pretty ok

There have been alot of threads lately involving isolating and emphasizing certain parts of muscles but I think WOO hit's it on the head (no pun intended).

My point wasn't to argue with WOOO, but to not ignore the fact you can emphasize but not isolate areas of a muscles (ex: the inner chest argument).  That was the point of my post.  He is correct though that certain exercises work for person A (Scott and preacher curls) and person B (Lee Priest and BB curls).
