cardio on empty stomach?

Should i do cardio on an empty stomach or can i get a way with taking a scoop of protein in water?  the most carbs i've seen in a protein powder is 4 grams, will 4 grams of protein make that much of a difference when doing cardio?  the reason i ask is because half way through my cardio session i get the stomach gripes and smetimes i cramp up beacuse i haven't eaten anything in atleast 8 hours. what should i do?

The amount you listed shouldn't hurt you.  Listen to your body when it comes to these things.  While there is back and forth discussion on here about this topic, I personally run on an empty stomach as much as possible (for a number of reasons) and I have cut up very well.  Everything is a matter of preference, but again, I think amount of protein won't kill you. Test is out next time and see what your body can tolerate.

I think you'll live.

Alternatively, you could just take some amino caps, BCCAs and L-glutamine as a compromise.

If you are doing hardcore interval training, where the point is really metabolic boost and not allowing for oxidation of fat (i.e. interval being partially anaerobic), I would defintely take a scoop of whey before cardio. If you are doing conventional cardio, you could do without it....

Interval is much more effective though...and more painful...

If you can do it

If you do it later in the day your just burning the calories from the food you ate during the day.

If you work the, say treadmill first thing in the morning you haven't eaten anything for the last 8 or so hours because you were sleeping. So, when your body sees that there are no carbs to burn, it goes directly to stored bodyfat. And stored bodyfat is the fat that is on your body, which is the fat that you want to lose!

Irrelevant; caloric deficit and calories burnt are the only factors involved in losing 'fat'....whether fat is oxidated during cardio or not does not matter.
