hellz no, nowhere near that many even for legs, MAYBE 500 for A 20 set leg workout and 250-300 for most other bodyparts, weight training doesn't burn anywhere near as many calories a people think.

I am monitoring calorie intake, etc on www.dailyplate.com

They have some insane figure for 400cals for an intense 30 min weight training workout ! It sounded high to me too...

Safe to say 300 calories?

yeah maybe 300 if it's a fairly intense 20 set type of thing with moderate reps.

Agree with SF...around 300-400 calories...however, remember that weight training has a ripple effect..by breaking down muscles and inducing the recovery process, calories will continue to be burned throughout the hours/days afterwards. That's why weight training and following an appropriate nutrition program are the most effective means to fat loss.

As long as you're concentrating on heavy compound moves followed by isolation movies, which you should be doing, you can burn upwards of 500 calories in an hour. But you have to train intensely, that's the only way to achieve any results.
