WTF indeed. Of course you did not tell us how many times a week and how long the workouts were. Two, 3 or 4 splits a 7 day week. (some guy's will use a 9 day workout cycle for better recovery time) Sound like you may have hit the famous WALL. Could have taken at least a full 2 weeks off, 3 would be better. Just for the sake of a mental break as well as a physical one. Outside the gym influences like job or family pressure drain the mental energy adding to extra stress. But I think you know that.
Let's be real here, you are going to have to eat it for awhile and begin again with much smaller weights and shorter and fewer workouts at first. Your ego may be bruised for awhile using small weights, but so what, sometimes you have to take a step backwards to make a giant leap forward. Take a few training weeks to begin ramping up the workouts slowly. And try and keep any gym time brief and to the point. One exercise each body part for now. And maybe a full body workout, which will probably only take 4 to 6 exercises (3X10-12 reps) to do. You strength and size could improve to the point where you may be using more weight and making better progress than ever before after awhile. And if you can, get a training partner for more motivation in training.
Did not say if you had been using supplements or the general diet was good. Good food produces good results and most supplements are never needed. An exception would be a high quality Whey protein. Too another degree, I have seen many athletes add a superior grade Creatine to their training diet with exceptional results. This is one of the only supplement that really seems to work on most people for increased power and hypertrophy. Just my view......whatever. Good Luck.
