At one time he was. After the 2003-4 Olympia, he could have went on the "one of the worst of all-time" lists too.

While Ronnie had an abundance of mass at the 03 Olympia, and did look impressive in photos, when I have compared contest footage of 03 Ronnie VS 95 Yates, Yates looks a lot more refined and a hell of a lot more conditioned, in my opinion.  In comparison to Yates, Ronnie looks soft.  Comparing 98 Ronnie to 03 shows the regression of his conditioning in the pursuit of mass.  If one wants to compare gym shots, I'll concede that 03 Ronnie is very impressive, but in the famous black and white photos from 93, Yates is still more complete and has a quality and density to his musculature that I feel Ronnie lacks.

yates' comment was if he could beat ronnie if he came out of retirement - of course he would loose.

yates did not mean his all time best vs. ronnie - no past champion for any sport would concede that moron.

You know it's funny, when I first began following the sport, I didn't get it when it came to Yates.  I didn't initially see his greatness. Over the years I have come to appreciate the overall complete development and superior conditioning that Yates had which made him so dominant.   Those that decry Dorian's wins draw attention to select, less than favorable photos from Dorian's competitive career, but fail to objectively give credit for those photos, as in the case of the 93 black and white shots and others, that are truly mind boggling, even to this day.  I suggest those critics keep in mind also, that Dorian was a bodybuilder whose true greatness didn't always completely show via photos, but needed to be seen in person or from video footage to be appreciated.  I used to wonder how it could be that Nasser didn't defeat Dorian, as from the photos Nasser looked so impressive (from the front).  However, in viewing contest footage I was able to see things totally different.  From video footage, Dorian blew Nasser away with superior overall development and density, just as he did in defeating his other contemporaries.

i think Yates 93 commes close but i think Ronnie at his best was even better.
