Fish oil question
« on: July 22, 2008, 10:26:32 PM »
I don't really know why they call them "healthy fats" but I was reading the label of my order today and it says 1 serving (2 pills) contains 1/2 gram of saturated fat. That can't be good can it?

Should I be worried about the saturated fat content?

Try using either Barleans or for a cheaper version of flax and Omega 369 with sesamin hit up a nutri shop for their EFA formula

Yup, that's what I use and recommend. It's also approx twice as concentrated, so you will require less caps for an equal dose. Most products on the market are approx 30% of the active lipids -EPA/DHA- you want. LEF is twice that. Here's my personal supp stack, with LEG fish oil the first thing I mention!

sat and unsat are all good fats you just have to watch the levels in your blood. HDL and LDL are both good you just have to watch the levels.

HDL is quite good and the more the better within reason. LDL causes plaque formation and oxidizes because cells will only take up cholesterol requirements, so more lipo protein with no peripheral cholesterol uptake equals bad news. HDL participates in cetripedal transport, taking up excess cholesterol and bringing it back to the liver for destruction. Cells can up or down regulate hormone sensitive lipase, hence the reason ldl is bad in excess, some is needed for transport however. I agree with you,im just explaining it in case some members where wondering about cholesterol, as fats, cholesterol keep coming up.
