I think it could be a trend. But, also there really aren't any dominant mass monsters  in the pros left- Ronnies injured, Ruhl is retired and never did develop triceps, Branch is hurting, Jay seems to have lost the ability to peak, Stubbs needs better legs, Wolf is more of a hybrid shape/mass guy as is Freeman. The point being is that the best guys now are the shape monsters not the mass monsters.

Dexter won the two biggest shows and Heath was a major player . Toney Freeman and his x man V taper also won a couple pro events as well.
Seems to me the shift has been made from sheer freaky mass as the winning pro physique.
We bore witness to a still thick and massive but off form Jay lose his title on stage as well.
Ripped to the bone Branch Warren won a well deserved most muscular award but his overall physique could only capture 4th at the ASC.
As I reflect on this it motivates me to stay involved with pro IFBB contests.
Do you think this shift to a more classic pro physique is better or what?
Howard

i agree....this is a HUGE move for the IFBB...almost as big as jay cutler's waist...haha...but anyways, this is whats going to make the sport safer, healther looking, more promotable...marketble, ect....this is going to help the amatuers more too..more and more classic physics are going to get rewarded....u got guys like libatore, curry, putnam...guys are deadly ....AGREE
