I have heard Luke Wood has pulled out of the guestposing due to health issues again.

He is a good guy, but it is sad to see himself destroying his health to pose on stage for a few minutes :(

Yep and from the sounds of it, he fell into another "thyroid storm"  ::)

Another promised appearance only to pull out...again.

From Anabolex.com:

Ok, its extremely hard for me to say and just rips my guts out but i will NOT be guest posing at the Ifbb NT show on October 10th.

HB and some of my closests mates on here have known for the last week but iam just posting this now as i just got out of hospital last nite.

Let me go back to about 10 weeks ago when i started dieting and and really training hard for this awesome event. It was my comeback and i wanted to come in at least like i did for the CCI 06 guest pose.
Training was going great and although i had not been training or dieting that hard prior to this i was amazed at how fast my body turned around. After 5 weeks of dieting i was already down to under 6% BF and at 118kg. Luke Shembri trained with me at 8 weeks out and i was 3 weeks out of contest shape and very happy with my shape.
Yes its only a guest pose but as a professional i feel (dispite what others think) that its important to turn up in shape and since HB really has rolled th red carpet out for me it was the least i could do.

About 4 weeks i could i was coming way too fast, even if it was a show. I was getting extremely tired, weak and always wanting to sleep. I reminded myself its not a show and only a guest pose. I stopped cardio and bumped my food up to about 800g carbs a day for a week but still felt the same if not worst. I than chose to eat junk (very unlike me) for 2 weeks and see what happens. I was already extremely lean so i figured i would get a good rebound and that would still give me 3-4 weeks before the guest pose to get back down again, but again no matter what i ate or how much i was dragging my ass everywhere.
I went and got some blood work done. The Doctor said i have early stages of Cronic Fatigue Syndrome and that my immune system needed to re-enenrgised. That i need to get out of the gym for at least a month as i was burnt out. Also i was absolutely flat stick with my PT business.

I knew i had that guest and really wanted to not take time out. I took 3 days off training i and i did feel better. I came back and started training hard when after a few days i was finding it very hard to breath. Even simple thinks i was out of breath and at times was feeling alot of pressure on my chest!! (was it my heart i was thinking???)
Even after a while, walking up stairs, hanging the washing out etc i was winded. So imagine training. The best way i can describe is it felt like i was drowning which turned out was exactly what was happening.

After a week and my family and friends being extremely worried i went to Liverpoool hospital and get seen too.
Alarmly my blood pressure was 200/120!!!! I shit myself. My breathing was terrible and i could not hold 3 or 4 words together without being winded. They addmitted me right away and do further tests.
It turned out i had had Glandular Fever for over a week and due to the infected glands and chest infection it was pouring a tonne of fluid on my lungs whcih intern was why i could'nt breath, felt like i was drowning and put a heap of pressure on my heart and cause my BP to sky rocket. All because a i was burnt out and my immune system was extremely low!

They had to keep me in Hospital for 5 days. They gave me 18cc of injectable lasix to remove fluid off my lungs which took some time and in 5 days i lost 10kg.
If i had chose to ignore the symtoms of feeling so tired i highly likely would have drowning in my own fluid or even had a heart attack. They said either way it was great i go there in time as in anonther few days i probably would not have been there.

After getting everything under control i feel the best i have felt in a long time!

Due to strict doctors orders i need to just rest from work for a few weeks and take at least4 to 6 weeks off training.
As much as it sadden me to have to pull out of the guest pose my health is number 1. The old Luke probably would have tried to get through. I feel good though and it felt even better when HB did'nt hesitate to be completely understanding and had no issue with it at all. Thats a MATE!

Now with this rest i have in front of me im just going to chill and enjoy the simple things in life.

I can tell you its a huge wake up call for now to finally listen to my body and rest it when it needs it. If i had listened to my body earlier i more than likely would not have come to this.

Too all my dear friends and who came to see me thankyou so much! I love you all guys.

I did keep it quiet guys as we wanted to know for sure what was wrong with the small minority speculating and what caused this. Now im on the mend I look forward to getting back into it soon!

Thankyou

Good old Luke....

Was very good in his day....awesome physique.

Obviously his body couldnt handle the extreme methods require to get to the very top

I would call it a day.....he's taking major years off his life as it is now

Walk away Luke....get fat, start a family, be content......you were still a very good BB'er......Schmidt, Priest, yourself.....

take it easy mate.........

God damn it, I tought the tyroid incident last year was ALREADY a wake up call.

Luke is a cool dude tho, I feel he should just stay retired and enjoy life.
I know what it's like to want to get on a stage but it's nothing compared to being healthy

I wish you a speedy recovery Luke
