what about someone who pleads guilty to a crime, is that not 100%?
there will always be a small portion of ppl wrongly imprisoned lets say 1%(which i believe is what the assumed rate is by the justice department) there have been about 47 executions this yr from what i can find.

So of those 47 there is a 0.47% chance that there is a innocent person among them...

The argument that there will always be innocent ppl convicted so we shouldnt use capital punishment is logically flawed. By that logic we shouldnt punish at all after all there is a chance that they are innocent.

Someone confessing a crime, even a murder, doesn't mean they're guilty.

We have a case over here right now where this "serial killer" claims to have murdered over a two dozen persons and has been convicted of 8 murders!

Prosecutors, Criminal investigators, journalists and even the serial killers own defense attorney has made a career on his case.

All they had was his confessions.

Hard proof put him at another geographical location, 250 miles away, being photographed during the murder, in one of the cases.

Now, after 10 years, this "serial killer" suddenly has a change of heart.

And admits he was lying the whole time. He didn't kill anyone. He just made it up.

The real murderers are walking free.

And no. There are no technical evidence. Nada. Zilch. Zero. Zip.

Had he been tried where the capitol punishment were available, he'd been put to death.

And the real murderers would probably never been brought to justice.
