Hey guys, new to the training board so forgive me if this has been covered.
When training back my hamstrings get sore the next day. I try to keep them "lose" when doing chins, pull ups, ect. Anyone have to deal with this?
I wouldn't think chins & pull-ups would cause this, but...
If your hamstrings are tighter than average, then most forms of deads, b/o rows, and hypers will cause soreness due to the stretch they place on the posterior leg fibers.
That soreness may also indicate a necessity for some hamstring stretching several times per week.
Increasing flexibility in the hamstrings can help alleviate lower back pain for many people, and it can also make certain compound back movements a bit more tolerable.
Also, it's worth mentioning that loose hammies will grow easier than tight ones - provided you're among the 6% of trainers who actually care enough to train their legs.
But, if you're like everyone else, then the best thing you can do for your legs is wear pants.
