While Bush said that...the average soldier does not in anyway feel that. The average jihadi does. They want to create a Muslim Calphite that controls the World...As far as contoling resources. If the guys who normally sell the stuff at a fair price suddenly go bonkers.....threaten you, sponser, support or otherwise look the other way as their country is us to train and equip terrorist, yeah i have a problem with that. Iraq was about the oil, I think Bush though he had WMDs as well. General officers need to watch what they say. I don't disagree with you on that. Gen Wallace has also made remarks that make me cringe.

The Arab/islamic empire that rose in the 7th century was comparable in size to the Roman Empire.. They spread their faith via the sword and this is not even debatable..

They still have that mentality, but are uneducated and foolish.. That's why their culture and people are tanking fast.

I honestly don't give a shit about Iraq anymore. We're taking, but we're also offering in return. If they can't accept and would rather murder one another then that's not something any american should be concerned about.

Who has killed more people, or who has killed more people recently and in the name of religion. I think the muslims win hands down. Nobody has launched a Christian jihad against anybody..no matter what you think of Bush.

War is the extention of our foreign economic policy. We have to secure natural resources. or more importantly not allow folks who pose a threat to us, to control them. The Middle East is way to unstable to allow a bunch of religious fanatics to control the resources that the West needs to maintain economic viability. Life is not fair....

You forget about some little thing call the inquisition and the Catholic nations did try to invade England (the protestant nation) during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The Queen was even sentenced to death by the Catholic church ... hmmmm.

bad evil people ..they must have the evil gene..

Of course not.

I'm no expert on Islam, but IMO I think the problems mainly stem from it being a younger religion.

Islamic countries are far from being secularized, rather being radicalized.

Also, currently Islam offer an alternative to the hegemonic center powers of the western World, the peripheral states and forces will be drawn to alternatives.

No we didn't and nobody is making excuese for the excesses of the past, in particular the Catholic church of the late middle ages and beyond, but we're in the 21st century and they are the only ones doing this crap in the name of "god".

Ousted Maldives President Claims Obama Approved Islamist Coup

The Washington Post reports that Mohamed Nasheed, the former president of Maldives, claims the United States has given legitimacy to the Islamist coup which deposed him.

Mohamed Nasheed won the presidency in Maldives’s first multiparty elections in 2008, after a lifetime advocating democracy and human rights and several long stints in jail.

Less than three years later, he was forced to resign by an angry mob of police officers and soldiers, in what he says was a coup engineered by his autocratic predecessor.

“We have to have an election,” he said in an interview while visiting the Indian capital, New Delhi. “In the absence of that, Islamic radicals are gaining strength in the Maldives.”

Nasheed, whose multiple instances of torture and imprisonment prevented him from witnessing the birth of his daughters, removed various Islamic prohibitions that created legal inequality for Maldives citizens.

He noted that he also restored diplomatic relations with Israel that had been suspended for three decades under Gayoom, advocated closer ties with the United States and Maldives’s giant neighbor India, introduced benefits for single mothers and tried to protect women forced by Islamic radicals to wear burqas and veils.
