Lidell was a one dimensional fighter who took advantage of one dimensional opponents. Once he lost a step and his chin got weaker, he became a human highlight reel for taking brutal knockouts. Randy is a far more complete fighter who actually became better with time. Both are legends, but I wouldn't classify either of them in their primes as in Fedor's league, Anderson Silva's league, GSP's league, BJ in his prime or even Shogun. In fact, I don't think either of them is more impressive than a Dan Henderson to tell you the truth. I would put Randy as a top 10 ( at number 10) all time great fighter. I don't think Lidell is a top 10 all time great. The most compelling fights either of them ever fought were against each other. Purely based on the fact that Lidell beat Randy twice (albeit at 205) he is an all time great. If you took those two wins away, I wouldn't even consider Lidell to be anything special.
