The gym business is not that profitable. It is easy to struggle and even lose money. It is a high investment, low return business. There are probably too many gyms out there and all of them cannot be viable. In America the effect of so much competition is reduced rates. So you need thousands of members to make a profit. I think if your formula is right you can do okay. Keep the gym smaller (less than 100000 feet) and don't have aerobics and such. Offer help and instuction and you will be fine. I would like a gym of about 10000 square feet and filled with the best gym equipment. Just a few cardio machines, stretching area but no boxing. A couple of people can run it and it would be fun. Of course gyms have long hours today and that is a bummer. You need staff or you will go nuts soon enough. Matter of fact you will soon get fed up with the ignorance of the public when it comes to exercise. Not sure I would own a gym if I had to do it all again. I think I would have studied medicine and been a specialist making big money.
