I was at the 2001 Mr. Olympia and Ronnie clearly won although Jay looked really good and gave big Ron a run for his money.....Ron also had more showmanship than Jay and I thought that cost Jay and put Ronnie over the top...Ronnie went up into the upper levels of the stands and posed with the crowd which gave him a big cheer and a big lift....Ronnie also whipped off his shorts and was wearing the United States flag as underwear...since this was only a few weeks after 9/11 the crowd went crazy...Ronnie scored a lot of soft points with the judges which put him over the top..but Jay's physique was really on that night and he was really hard and grainy....But Ron won...he was just good enough..

Have to agree. Also remember the crowd reaction when Cutler did his mandatories before pre-judging? Everyone went nuts! Also Tom Prince acting like he was on crack haha. Only pro show I have ever been to, picked a good one.

Yes..same here..that was my first and only pro show as well....I have always wanted to attend another Olympia but haven't been in Vegas when it was going on.....I do remember that Tom Prince got a good reaction from the crowd in the night show.....and I also thought Shawn Ray should have been third behind Jay and Ronnie..I also take pride that I was in the audience during the Athletes meeting when Ronnie made his infamous "Apples v.s Oranges" line and Shawn Ray got into an argument with a female judge who told Shawn "your physique hasn't changed in years" which led Shawn to ask for her to be removed as a judge since she was biased and she was.....

The symmetry round is NOT a round where symmetry is judged as a sole entity it's in name only , all rounds are physique rounds meaning NO one individual criteria is judged by itself , muscularity is NOT judged by itself despite the name , same with posing where all of the criteria is judged at the same time , so just because Jay won the 'symmetry ' round doesn't mean he had the best symmetry

When judging the ' symmetry ' round , judged are looking muscularity , symmetry , balance , proportion , hardness , dryness , posing , completeness , stage presence , etc , this is ALL judged in every round in every pose
