I've gone out to buy bulbs several times now and I have to lol at what's going on... The lighting lane at the home improvement stores are turning into anti-establisment meeting areas...  Tonight was the second time in a week that I ended up chatting with someone over politics in the bulb section of the store lol...  Both times someone came up to me as I was looking throught the bulbs and said, "you know you better stock up on those" Then we sat there and talked about a full spectrum of the bullshit going on... The last dude would not stop talking, after 35 minutes I finally said, "hey, I gotta go, my wife is going to be wonder where the hell I am.." lol...

Anti-government meeting tonight in the bulb section of home depot at 7:00PM lol...

LOL, it's probably the same reason there is a warning on the side of fireworks that says, "Dangerous, combustible"

Why invade with troops when you can accomplish the same result via horrible trade policy, de-balling ones' self, and spending like there is no tommorow ad relying on communists to pay your bills?

Lights Out… Democrats Block Repeal of Lightbulb Ban – Vote Gives Jobs to China
Posted by Jim Hoft on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, 9:41 PM

House democrats blocked the repeal of the light bulb ban. A majority of Americans oppose the government’s unpopular and unnecessary ban on incandescent bulbs and infringement on choice. On January 1 2012, 100 watt incandescent bulbs will become illegal, with lower wattages to follow.

The democrats just voted to give jobs to China.

The Politico reported:

House lawmakers Tuesday stymied an initial effort by Republicans to put an end to infamous light bulb efficiency standards.

The bill from Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) to repeal part of a 2007 energy law requiring traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient beginning in 2012 failed to get the necessary two-thirds support needed for approval under expedited rules. A majority of members — 233 — supported the repeal, including five Democrats. Ten Republicans joined 183 Democrats opposing the measure.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi personally whipped Democratic Caucus members to vote against the bill, a Democratic aide told POLITICO.

“I was concerned that Ms. Pelosi might make it a litmus test issue in her caucus, and she did,” Barton said after the vote. “We only got 5 Democrat votes. Everybody in the Blue Dog caucus and the Black caucus that voted no, voted against their constituents.

“I thought I had 25 at a minimum. I thought, if it were truly a free vote, I thought we’d pass it on suspension,” he added.

Barton said his plan is to move the measure under a regular rule requiring only majority support or as a spending bill amendment.

“We can put it on an appropriations bill. We can back it under a rule. I can try and go to some of the Democrats who didn’t vote for it and figure out a way to get them to consider voting for it in a little bit of a different format,” he said.

Of course, with their vote today the democrats gave good paying American jobs to China. The lightbulb ban forced several US manufacturing plants to close their doors. Meanwhile, the labor-intensive CFL production is thriving – in China.
Thanks democrats.

We’ve got bigger problems than light bulbs. Senate Majority Leader McConnell wants to give Obama the power to raise the debt limit on his own whim.

The republicans are showing that they are complicit with zero in bringing the US to her knees AGAIN.

Makes you think the establishment Repubics like Boehner wanted it to fail by bringing it directly to the floor for a vote, which needs 2/3rds to pass, instead of simply running it through committee and then out for a vote, which only needs a simple majority. They had better get it tacked onto something that passes before the ban goes into effect or their ineptitude should bring about political “lights out” for the RINOs and Repubics who let this happen.

Post #5 is right, this truly is Bush’s fault, as is his signing CPSIA, for those of you who don’t know about that bill, it literally bans selling your kids toys at yard sales or online, or simply donating them to charities. Folks who make handmade toys from wood, etc. have to go through costly lead testing, which also puts them out of business. You have to have each toy tested for lead. Old children’s books have to be burned as well. Look it up. Right now the gov’t isn’t enforcing this law because of the huge outcry, but it’s in the books, it is the law. Makes me sick. Dumb progressive Republican president did this. Let’s please make sure we don’t get another progressive Republican (Romney) as the nominee. He’s just chomping at the bit to sign more destructive laws (Romneycare, anyone?).

Just_, I agree. I find it intriguing that the EPA is allowing this, though they will probably just get sued by the other party that Mr. Hoft presented a couple of days ago.

Our government has become so backwards and twisted that everytime I read something that Mr. Hoft presents or hear on AFA Talk, I get infuriated and inspired to do something about it. I am afraid that I will just be shoved aside because I would be unwilling to compromise my morals and ethics to achieve something that a “party” or other political presence would see fit.
