after all my years of doing this.. all take a great machine (hammer strength. the new nautilus leverage line, gym80 ect) that is awesome in its mechanics over free weights any day.. i use some dumbell movements for arms and back.. but most of my workouts are machine based.. get much more out of it..

Tbombz i guarantee what development wof has he initially built with free weight,
a lot of big guys build their mass with free weight then when the get to a certain point they stray from what gave them their size.....
when did you discover machines work best for you
I guarantee you started off with free weights
there is no getting around it thats why ronnie PWNED everyone else and has still not being surpassed and probably wont ever be
FREE FUCKING WEIGHT... not some sissy shiny machine
note he workout on the unbelievable
deadlifts
rows
tbar rows
... not hammer strength pull downs
choice is an illusion

Does anybody find the irony in this video?
DJ the man with the shittiest lower lat development in the history of bodybuilding trying to help Wolf to improve his weak point : the lower lat development!

agree
not saying he has to go balls to walls and injure himself.....
but that workout was so shit...
compare to ronnies or dorians ...
huge 300lb fucking around on girly machines.... todays bbers all drugs...

BB'rs have always been all drugs, no matter what era they were from.  None of them would have looked a fraction as good as they did without drugs.

While I do agree, Wolf has always had pussy workouts, he is in contest prep and has already had hernia surgery once, I don't blame him for not going balls out right now.

This is a load of cock shit.  Ronnie wasn't what he was because he used free weights throughout his career.  The only thing that did for him was tear his tricep, lat and quad.  When it comes to bodybuilding, there is absolutely ZERO difference between free weights and machines, some guys probably get way better results with machines due to not having to control the movement as much and concentrate on the targeted muscle group.

This is bodybuilding, not weightlifting.

That clip there though is the hardest I have seen him train leading into a show.

You can see he really is putting effort in and the most important part is full ROM and a good contraction so he is working the muscle hard.

Meso - BBing is not about having an ego on the big lifts - who cares if he only deadlifts 4 plates offseason when all that matters is it looks like he can do 6  :D

im not talking about the amount of weight he can lift..
im talking about a man who's back is the weakness they say according to top olympia criteria
here is is doing an all machine back workout   :-\
not one barbell row or dumbell row lets look at the guys with the phenomenal backs
ronnie
kai
dorian
stubbs
all of the above guys could possibly get away with doing no rows and doing all machine workouts
their backs are their strong points YET they do rows deadlifts
....   pros nowaday lazy aside from a few

His back is not a weakness, he is the widest guy on stage - a certain area eg: lower lats which is genetic is not upto par hence more reverse grip stuff - he has worked hard on this area as you will see come O time.

I agree in regards that the bread and butter stuff eg: barbell/dumbbells build the best in terms of mass - he is in refinement stage though - Dorian used hammer machines for the most part also other than the reverse BB row.

This is Doz offseason and the BB row is dropped down in his workout - compare wolf and yates form here - full range with hard contraction.

Wolf has trained hard with deads and BB stuff over his offseason - again this is refinement time and he has had hernia problems so needs more support - just wait and see come contest time - if he is on he will be top 3

No deadlifting. No barbell movements. No use of even one dumbell.

that waz doz after he tore his bicep, doz did rows and genetics and rows is what built his backs...
and even if he didnt he can get away with that because back is his genetic gift

dennis wolf i think has the best physique or one of on the olympia stage, better than kai better than jay,  Id love to see him win he has amazing structure
unfortunately yes his back is a weakness because he has high lats and his back lacks thickness ,having a wide back alone doesnt cut it
see kevin and nasser....
choice is an illusion

BTW- that is a very good lat-training machine. Rotation aligned with the shoulder joints and full resistance throughout the whole range of motion.

Pulldowns or chins gives you variable resistance depending on where you are in the movement. I guess max resistance would be when the humerus is about 90 degrees relative to the torso?

not impressed. i miss Yates and Ronnie for real training pre-contest. this is crap.

I agree.nothing to special at all especially for a top pro.I dont want to sound like a bad-ass but I can lift close to that weight myself. Even jay's training chest video isn't that impressive I can lift close to those numbers as well. I know you all call bullshit but I am being serious.
