One question...did that 16 yr old awhile back remind you of yor HS sweetheart?

Don't get drunk, it's not a good look, and you were probably a lot worse than you think you were...people who get drunk, never see or hear themselves as others do...

Quote
Not to forget that mid-life is hardly turning thirty. Try turning forty, fifty and then sixty....that's a mid-life crisis! Anyway looking back, my thirties were a cake walk. The forties were OK. Around the time I was fifty, my job was cut and I was faced with the prospect of finding a new one somewhere else or taking a lesser job where I was. I opted for staying with the same employer. It was a difficult decision which I wrestled with almost every day for the next decade. When retirement started to become an option and I realized that my retirement income was going to be better than the income from my job, things began looking up. In retrospect, I made the right decision for me.

Of course when I was thirty, I didn't have the last three and a half decades to look back on. Most of our life on the way to becoming thirty years old is training for the rest of our lives; you learn to poop on the toilet and say mama, then you spend the next twelve years learning a bunch of seemingly worthless shit from your teachers at school, in college you learn how to drink, fight and fuck and maybe a couple of other life lessons, next you find out that working isn't all it's cracked up to be. If your lucky, you meet someone and fall in love, get married and if your progressive you may even have a kid or two. Then you turn thirty and life begins...
...and you figure you re just an animal. Well most people understand this in their 60s 70s or 80s, because they were too busy working , believing in all the bullshits others told them that were told to them to keep em alive and productive/contributing -and because other people needed them to stay alive and maintain/increase their own odds of survival, too- , dominating others at all costs depending of their conditionnings in their 20s, 30s,40s, following what their parents and grandparents told them; work , use everything you have and we taught you, everything you ll learn, to dominate others at all costs. They re not going to tell you you and them are just animals struggling for survival without any other meaning of life to be found. No wonder anti depressants comsuption is exploding in occidental societies where people get smarter sooner while life expectancy simultaneously increases ironically.

Most people figure this only in their 70/80s when they re too old to be listened to by younger people ...they spawned. Life is well designed isnt it! Old people have all the time in their hands to understand, re-think the past, remember, connect the dots.. and figure they re just animals just like all others animals of the human specie.  Old people who understand life has no meaning start dying when they figure the truth, and younger people dont want to listen to them anymore anyway. They have no more energy left, and the few sparks of energy remaining they use them to ask their children and grandchildren to take care of their now impotent sorry asses. In a last automatic reflex, they try to tell you life is wonderful, instead of demoralizing you, even if they dont believe in their own bullshits anymore.

Can you tell a kid that he's just an animal , that it's all about the fittest, the strongest -too bad you re neither...well, deal with it, as i had to-  that "life" is all about natural selection, evolution and genes, and that you and his mother have no clue why you spawned him/her in the firstplace, even if you figured since then that it was just a subconscious automatic biological process that was at work at the time you conceived him/her. Are you going to tell your kid you have no idea why you spawned him and that you regret having given birth to him/her ? Are you going to tell him/her that in fact giving birth to him/her GAVE A MEANING TO YOUR OWN LIFE ? And that all of this is preprogrammed genetically and universal. Nothing romantic about it when you see the big picture.

Yeah, occidentals who read and become smarter sooner than ever, also get old sooner, and dont want to reproduce anymore figuring life makes barely any sense and is completely unfair. When they do, they regret spawning offspring and tell them not to reproduce. And you wonder why we re disapearing while stupid, uneducated running in circles muslims and other third worlders breed like coackroaches and outnumber us in our own motherlands. The irony of evolution, natural selection , consciousness and "intelligence".
Smart people understand the lack of meaning of life sooner than dumb people who follow subconscious automatisms, ideologies,  principles , conditionnings without questionning them at any time in their life, dominate others people with all the means they have at hands whatever the costs, laughing at the depressive smart white people and their shelves full of books. Animals not even conscious of being animals, taking over humanists, "intelectuals".

Smart people dont reproduce as they know life has no intrinsical meaning. Just a succession of living things being thrown at each others randomly, who dont choose to be spawned, who dont choose to breath, who dont choose to think, who dont choose where they re born, where they live, and how they ll be programmed genetically and how they ll be conditionned, living things wether they re animal or vegetal struggling for survival in the past, present, and in the future, for ever and ever and ever.

This is quite the commentary. Your running theme seems to be that life is pointless. This is a very depressing way to feel. I am sorry for you if you actually believe this way. I happen to disagree. Life is wonderful in my opinion. I try my damnedest to live each day to the fullest and I usually succeed pretty well. Please note: I am living in the moment. I am not living for some fantastical afterlife. If there is one, I'll enjoy it just as I have enjoyed this life. If all there is, is dust, well that is OK too.

Intelligence, consciousness, lies to itself to keep itself alive. When it fails to lie to itself, it terminates itself. It is normal to be crazy, and still believe. It is not normal to see the truth; that life has no other meaning or purpose but to replicate itself indefinitely exploring all options/adaptations that will keep it alive.

Didn't you already say that the meaning of life is to exist? I believe the meaning of life is purpose...each of  us seek a purpose, onece we find our purpose, then we find happiness. Life is a journey in which knowledge of self is the final destination.

Life is great, even if is has ups and downs.

And one can even find good in the downs. To say life is meaningless and not having killed yourself yet shows you're a pussy, if you really believe it, why not kill yourself now?

Smart people who dont kill themselves after figuring life has no meaning and that we re all animals become cynical and rise in the pyramidal, societal ladder and dominate dumber individuals using their knowledges. They share them with their offsprings and these people become "elites" who lead nations. They know life has no meaning, but they re decided to enjoy it as much as possible while dominating others without any remorse. They re taught by their parents and grandparents how to dominate efficiently, how to rise.
They make good businessmen, entrepreneurs and politicians.

A perfect loop.

I'm guessing that since I am not the one who said life was meaningless, in fact I think I said the opposite, that you are agreeing with me. In my opinion, people who say they believe life is meaningless don't really mean it, otherwise, like you suggest why not just end your life.

My mom lived a wild life. She took so many chances with her life including several attempted suicides. I found it fascinating that she fought death as hard as she did when she was dying from emphysema. I think the will to live is huge. People say that life is meaningless and some even try to end their lives. Many are unsuccessful. I believe there is a reason for this.
