This is NOT America. We don't sue a dude cos he looked at you sideways. OK, what he did was pretty serious but word would get out I shaked him down for a couple of K and I would look like a complete jerk in the long run. Truth be told, a couple of grand wouldn't mean much to me and my father would hear about it and say he would have rather given me the money instead. It looks bad.
Its not a shake down. Tell the guy your concerns about your mental state over what he did to you. Ask him what he can do to make it better. And why in the world would a doctor who broke a code tell your father about it?
