Define ' better ' as far as performance for the dollars it's not better. The interior I'll give you hands down that's also what you're paying for , but in all terms the Z06 is a ' better ' car. It offers 99% of the performance of the Ferrari for much less money and it's more practical , it literally can be driven all day every day with dead-pan reliability , it's cheaper to insure , maintain and run
Ferrari's reliability is suspect , I remember Britney Spears F-430 just died on the road and the pappazzi had to push her to the side of the road , the new 458's recalled because they just burst into flames , I also recall Car & Driver doing a review of the new ( at that time ) Diablo & F-40 and chalked up a list of things that went wrong with both , from electrical problems ( which a lot of Italian cars seem to have issues with ) to pieces falling off , to there were a host of problems with the Diablo and they said they were less problems with the F-40 only because there were less parts to fall off
The old Ferrari's the 308/328 were horrible in terms of quality control , the old running joke was ' Yeah my Ferraris' fast but it's in the shop ' the old 308s were littered with problems , dashboards coming apart , rust , shitty paint , Ferrar;s paint sucked until they started using PPG , I remember a site called the NSXfiles these guys if I recall right had stock in Mircosoft and they bought F360s and they went into detail with the host of problems they had with them , switches falling off , windows not working , etc , etc , etc the type of stuff that wouldn't be acceptable on a $20k car never mind one that cost $250 !
They loved their Ferrari's none the less , likened them to supermodels with serious mental issues , great to look at but a fucking nightmare to deal with , ironically this also can be applied to pasta-rockets , Ducati has these issues as well , outstanding performers but no where near the reliability of the Japanese bikes
And someone touched on this subject with Lambos , right around the time a major service 15-30K you see a lot of them for sale ever wonder why? same with Ferrari , ever see a Ferrari with 100K miles on it? It's extremely rare to find one with over 50 nevermind twice that , I see Vettes and Z06's with 100K on them all day long , so in terms of being better , the Ferrari may be slightly better than a Z06 in on a track and on Rodeo Drive but in reality the Vette in a better car overall
And Chevy has a long racing heritage it might not include F1 but it has a long history in racing since the 50s , in NASCAR , drag racing , CAN-AM , Le Mans , etc , Ferraris whole image was the race car for the streets and funny is as you mentioned Enzo never gave a shit about the road cars used them as a tool to fund the racing , and the company only did exceptionally well as far as the road cars after his death under Luca , he took that company into the 20th century and beyond
With all that being said I would buy a Ferrari in a minute if as Ferris Bueller said " if you have the means " I love the styling and the sound and the heritage.
Good post. You got my point.

I'm on my third Vette. This one on the end is mine. Its a 2002 Z. Factory tested wide-open until the fuel tank is empty. Thats the way they do it. GM/Pratt Miller ALMS racing team is showing the world.
DD all the way. Don't matter what kind of weather, just gotta be careful. They are fast and they are light, tires are wide. You can't just get out and change them out according to weather conditions.
Bottom line, they are like bitches. They can be high-maintenance at times, but that's the price you pay for them being an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. The Z was made for power adders (which is even scarier)-- you don't have to strengthen much to add another 2-300 HP to the RW.
you gotta own one to know one. I would never buy anything but. Even if I couldnt afford a Z, I would STILL have a Vette. It's a lifetime love affair.
BTW, chicks love Vettes. Trust me. I wouldn't lie. It never gets old.
