I've been telling my 74 yo father that the problem is people like him who think they're entitled to just sit around and collect money they paid into a system that promised to support them.  Finally, he'll have to listen to reason and get his shiftless ass off to work.

Then you should have the right to not pay into social security.  It's a ponzi scheme built by the government.  I will agree, that no one should feel they don't have to work just because they are a certain age, or that they have an idea the government will take care of them.  If you don't have money, you have to keep working, simple as that.
