Agreed. I want to see Barnett vs. Mir. Also Cormier didn't impress me last night.

Cormier admitted he didn't perform well....said he felt tired and slow......have to like his honesty. Said he doesn't deserve a title shot yet.....not many fighters ever say that?  He was a different fighter when he beat up Barnett! He impressed the whole MMA world!

OMR.....I like Josh Thompson too.......I always thought he never got enough credit....very well rounded fighter. At least now he is back in the discussion.

I wouldn't mind seeing a fight between Barnett and Mir. I think that could be a good fight, although I'd probably give it to Barnett at the end.

I don't trust Mir against anyone at this point. This is exactly when Mir will look like a world beater. He will probably win impressively in his next fight. Maybe Barnett? Maybe Josh Browne?

I think Josh Thompson is a complete fighter.

In his fight against Melendez at Strikeforce, I would have given it to Thompson as it went to the judges and somehow Melendez got the win, even after Thompson tortured him all throughout the fight.

I think a more entertaining fight in that division would be Henderson versus Thompson. Thompson has an answer for all of Henderson's leg strikes. He also has an answer to Henderson's ridiculous stamina and energy. What he also has is a killer JiuJitsu game that could put Henderson to sleep.

Congratulations, my friend.  Well done and well deserved.  As to whether or not we are worthy of your moderational (yes, I believe I made that word up!) beatific guidance and munificence remains to be seen. ;D

Have fun with it and as always, be yourself.  That will ensure the best outcome for all concerned.

I grow tired of guys like Gsp and Henderson. True champions finish fights. Its like they have pillows on they're hands. They can't seem to K.O. or submit anyone now.

I also gave Josh Thompson the decision against Melendez (Strikeforce).  Judging just sucks sometimes.  But Henderson and Thompson would be WICKED!!!  Dana has to sign it?

Yes and I think it was too damn close. I would have called it a draw by way of points.

Canelo is a monster and can outbox the vast majority of people, but Trout is a killer and the judges in professional boxing showed once more that they are crooked.

It all comes down to priorities.

You have to decide whether you are a fighter or a competitor and in GSP's case, I think he prefers to be a competitor with a smart game plan that caters to his opponent's overall weaknesses.

GSP is a smart business man. The UFC is making him very rich and has allowed for him to benefit from many sponsors, an upcoming movie and his own RushFit (crossfit) program.

Once you are at the top and enjoying that sort of lifestyle, you have to decide whether your goal is to remain a killer or remain comfortably as a winner. GSP, in my opinion, has opted to remain a winner by way of a safe and calculated approach to fights. Fighting provides for an amazing feeling, but it's also short-lived since the shelf life of a fighter is typically short. What isn't short-lived are the benefits of being a multimillionaire and having a brain that is both healthy and intact, two things which I feel GSP will walk away from the sport with.

While the Diaz brothers are extremely entertaining to watch, I wouldn't be surprised if down the line they end up spending most of their free time eating out of a straw, while foaming at the mouth.

Excellent post.  I too tend to find GSP boring....but we saw what happened to the (entertaining) Diaz brother last night.

It's a business....winning is what matters.

While I have you on the phone, what did you think of the Henderson/Melendez fight?

Also, when will the Diaz brothers start to put their hands up and provide true striking defense (only so many blows to the head before anyone goes down)?

"1"
I didn't watch it , I went to a birthday party .

The Diaz brothers  are tough ,good ground game , they can take a punch and they have good cardio , that's enough to do well in MMA but technically (boxing) they aren't that good ,poor foot work, poor defense  ,slow , sloppy ......... etc . I don't understand why people think they are good boxers  ???

OMR  knows his shit .

BTW , nobody fights for the fans (not even Wanderlei ) ,most  fighters fight to win (some fight just to  pay bills) fighters have different styles , some  fighters have an aggressive  crowd-pleasing style ,   some of them have a more technical ''boring'' style.    I hope this helps.

They've been spreading that around for years now and I think it comes down to two simple truths, (1) they have a good boxing coach in their camp (even though the Diaz brothers still aren't good boxers - decent at best) and (2) sadly, there aren't any good boxers in the UFC (at least that I know of), so everyone assumes that anyone who can land punches accurately and counter during a flurry is a "good" boxer.
