this hits close to home. i was coming out of a bathroom[incidently i always wash my hands no excuses for such laziness] and a father was saying to his son "'see tom herr[former mlb baseball player] goes to the bathroom just like we do". only difference he doesn't wash his hands". moses alou and jorge posada were known to piss on there hands to toughen them up so i guess they took it one step further.

Even if you just took a leak how could you not use that opportunity to wash viruses and bacteria off your hands? No wonder so many catch so many colds. I won't even touch the door if I could use a paper towel for the handle. That handle has more e coli on it than a $2 dollar whore.

I wash..but i must say....I HATE the fucking asshole bathroom attendant that purposely gets in my fucking way, towel in hand, on my way to the sink...and expects me to tip him for handing me a paper towel.

Even WORSE when they come at you with the soap dispenser...get the fuck out of my face you asshole.

I use to feel so sorry for the hand out the paper towel guy. Imagine your job is to hang out in a bath room and do that. Then I found out in this area many work for an agency that takes their tips then pays them. They don't even get to keep all their tips. In a busy casino or big hotel they could be bringing in $200 an hour in tax free tips and you thought the $50 buck an hour  you make in a suit and office was a lot.

Same here.  And I always wash my hands well before I touch any food or do any cooking.  I also wash my hands after the gym.

No.  I'm pretty sure that an english guy living in Thailand (near Bangkok) with enough money to have a computer and internet access is definitely having more of a life than you are.  I'd bet on it.

I agree.  What's worse;  In some hi-so Thailand clubs, the bathroom attendant will actually try to give you a neck rub while you're pissing in the urinal.  This total violation or manlaw is no joke.  On my first trip to Thailand I had to look that shit up on the internet to get over the feeling that I'd been molested. lol

It's always fun when someone new comes to town, you never warn them about this when they go in. I've known a couple of guys come out of the toilet having pissed on their own legs in shock.  The lads are all rolling around laughing and poor pissy pants has nothing to say but "you bastards". Boys will be boys.

Even better if you go to a place more frequented by the locals - like Tawan Daeng on Rama 3. The back rubbers there show no mercy.

It must be a cultural thing 'cause I never could get used to just standing there having a piss whilst some guy rubs my shoulders.

I pass on that but I do like the hot towels you get to use after washing.

I'm not a germaphobe - I'm a pissaphobe. Germs don't come into it IMO. I think it's just nasty to have pee on your fingers.

Trouble is - as has been mentioned, a lot of the good work at the washbasin is undone at the door. There should be a law that all public toilet doors open outwards.
