  • Pretty sure he isn't in Ibiza getting the girls
Imagine if he had solid Takedown defence and quick reaction on his knees, then he'd go places.

Nobody would be able to take him down and he would pulverize people standing up

I'm not convinced he could beat the top guys in the sport because he's a little short so I think the top heavy guys with lots of different games/styles could potentially beat Tyson.  (IIRC, the much bigger Lennox Lewis was able to negate Tyson's game after a short time when both trained together for a while when both were very young.)

I think a prime Couture would tire him out in the clinch.
I think a prime Mirko could keep him out of punching range long enough to land a debilitating kick (to a few different places).
I think Fedor could beat Tyson in a number of ways but would probably use an upper body throw and then blast him out with GnP.
I think Big Nog could pull guard and sub him.
I think Ubereem (not Overeem) would knee him to bolivia.
I think Cain would just outwork him.

I think that, in general, people overrate Tyson on the basis of how quickly he dealt with cans because of his quickness and power.  When he fought top boxers, he didn't do so well.  Pretty much the equivalent of Mirko in MMA.

all the above is only relevant if mike doesn't hit them before they use the above techniques to beat him

his punching power with 4oz gloves would do horrific damage

Maybe he'd just do horrific damage to his hands.  Like when Belfort fought Sakuraba in Pride.  Did not turn out well for Belfort.

You saw what happened when he and Mitch Green tangled in a fight outside with no gloves. Mike;s hand was broken/fractured (I believe), but Mitch Green's face was effed up...his face looked like Picasso painting.

These are real life UFC fighters, not people that live fantasy lives of training with Manny Steward and James Toney

Your still mad?  LOL, Your whole life is an online fantasy, loser.

Pretty much the truth. Except that Tyson was in his prime when he lost to Douglas, he was just not prepared.

The OP is most likely as much as a keyboard warrior as those he criticizes, if he has a verifiable, pro record in any combat sport, I'll publicly apologize.  Tyson has commented himself, on camera, how he would do or would have done in MMA both in his prime and with/without specialized training (in his prime he may have KO'd mid tier guys w/o specialized training but would lose badly on the ground to any decent fighter). I would saylet's just believe Mike's own self observations about his chances in the past, but debating it doesn't make one a coward or keyboard warrior IMO

Nice to see UFC fighters show respect to Mike - whether he'd be good at MMA or not. Boxers are too insecure about MMA, constantly telling how much UFC fighter suck and how they'd easily beat them. Pussies.

You're not getting he point, are you dumb ass? They're not pussies as fighters, they're just being pussies / punks for trash talking MMA which makes them look very insecure. As a matter of fact, Mike Tyson is the only boxer I can think of saying nice things about MMA.

In his prime Tyson was an amazing boxer. When he got involved with Hollywood and started drinking, drugs and limited training he went down hill. There is no MMA guy that could box Tyson in his prime. Tyson doesn't wrestle so he would get taken out in MMA. He doesn't know anything about sprawls, reversals, arm bars, chokes, guard or anything needed on the ground. What would be scary would be if instead of starting off as a boxer he trained for MMA. When he was 21 there was no MMA in this country until Rorian and Royce brought it here.

even on the ground, a prime tyson was a world class athlete that would have learned basic skills quickly.  And, if he could get a guy to sit still long enough on the ground, his punches would still fly vertically and knock some people out.

I have watched countless UFC guys mess up and get caught coming in by FAR less skilled punchers than a prime Tyson.  Standing Tyson would simply KO them.  If taken down they would overwhelm him.

To take tyson down you ll be stepping well into his punching range, no one alive can take a flush shot from Tyson in 4oz mitts

the guy wouldn't be allowed in the UFC in his prime.... with his combination of speed and power he would be way too dangerous.
