I wouldn't worry much about anything except other Americans, in the case of foreign invasion or zombies taking over.

It would be impossible to measure just how insane people become when their facebook won't load or the fridge is empty. The entitlement thing would really explode fast.

Starvation and boredom are dangerous. More dangerous than anything else.

I think it'll just be a continual erosion of standard of life. Things will get a little shittier, a little shittier, for decades. We won't feel it. Why? People are too lazy to riot. People love their comforts... rioting means the internet doesn't work and we can't post pics of what we have for lunch or 'like' year-old pics of girls we wanna bang on the side. So people don't bother.

Govt doesn't want people rioting and sitting home either. nobody pays taxes that way.

A katana is a great choice. The problem with sharp swords is that without training you can really fuck yourself up bad swinging a sharp blade. Swords are devastating weapons. I saw a video where a guy shot a side of beef with a 12 gauge 00 buck shot. He showed 9 holes in the side of beef. Then he took a sword and in one slice nearly cut an entire side of beef in half. m4 for everday encounters... both are 5.56 for easy available ammo.

m40 for those times youre safely and securely tucked away and need to reach out and touch someone.... or support someone.

1911 again, easily accessible ammo.. always need to have a sidearm in an 'oh double feed' or slme such horseshit.

melee weapon.. either a tomahawk or katana... maybe an axe.

If I was able acquire several weapons I would go with these.

M4 Carbine 5.56
Beretta M9 9mm
M40 Rifle 7.62

If I only have a choice of one it would be this.

the SEALs use a h8ghly modified version of the M60.

everyone elses uses variants of the M240.

Army uses the 240B I think, Marines 240G. More reliable and higher rate of fire.

The problem is, that many are getting sick and tires of themselves (criminals)...
And the ironic thing is the government is the government that they wanted. What happens when you feel entitled? Well, government has to grow in order to fulfill and protect those entitlements. When personal responsibility goes out the door, the government steps in.
