explain more, why does the distance make the hand and wrist more vulnerable?

Because bareknuckle fighters use the hard part of the head and elbows to block the punches, and at full force this can break the knuckles or bones in the hand.

LMAO

@ these bare knuckle fighters who think they can beat a pro Boxer in a proper boxing match

Bert was never a great technical boxer but he boxed this guys ass off

Bert was a great fighter and almost KO'd holyfield back when evander was a great fighter- that was some war those guys had, a great fight

One of my favorite fighters from the early 90's (Smokin' Bert), what a war he had with Ray Mercer...

You must know some very different types of Gypsies,
To have seen them doing that. Especially elbow blocks.
It's bare knuckle fighting not wing Chun.

Clearly we know & seen different gypsies fight.

I raise the B.S. flag on the guy being a bare knucke "champ". mediocre form, glass jaw..

Okay, found where he is the "self crowned" champ... that explains it.

The man was a bit special in the hard man stakes.
He used to train in the old crystal palace gym.
Before I meet him I knew a few Faces South of the river
And they all spoke highly of him & didn't want any of him
Fight wise. That said a lot about him back then.

Sure he did. He lost a couple here & there.
I can't say there were many that wanted to bad mouth him,
Have a go when he was about.
Plenty come out after his death to call him out & etc.. ::)
Not much credibility.

bare knuckle fighting stopped being competitive since the late 1800s thats when everyone moved to boxing
so they can legitimize it as a "sport".

100% of bare knuckle fighters since the 1900s attempted to be boxers first but couldnt cut it. most of the time they have jaws
worse than wlad klitshko and punch like pauli malignaggi. clear evidence of this is in this fight

james toney also boxed the bare knuckle heavyweight champ and played with him for 12 rounds
