Bareknuckle boxing is quite different.

There are less punches thrown as the head elbows can be used to break the opponents fist.

And obviously, bare fists do more damage, and can cut the face more. So the movements of the fight were slower, with less snappy punches and jabs.

Gloves were apparently added to make the sport more exciting since it would be faster with more pucnhes, but actually led to far more hits to the head and the chances of more serious damage.

None of this explains why he got his ass handed to him. If you're good, you're good and you can adapt to different situations, the key of being a street fighter, no?

That's what I thought it was. I guess Jesus makes a little more sense than a hairy "R". Not much more, but a little.

Ha. Thankfully it's not just me who thought that.
I couldn't figure out why he had an 'R' shaved on his back.

The last 40 sec of the fight are pricesless. As he wants to get up again and rolls back in to the ropes.lol
Wants to fight Tyson too! How can people be so damn goofy? What an embarrassment.
Not even one lousy round with an retired old Pro boxer.lol
I'm sure he thought he did pretty well

Throwing hooks like a boxer bareknuckle sure way to break your hands and wrists. No way your throwing that punch at that distance without protection on the hand,

explain more, why does the distance make the hand and wrist more vulnerable?

Savage was some sort of self proclaimed boxing champion, I haven't ever read any real boxing press for him except for an old article that mentions he spent some time touring American gyms, and decided pro boxing wasn't for him.

Also note that Bert Cooper was more of a journeyman level fighter, noted for his punching power. One can only imagine what a more technical fighter would do to these guys.

Apparently, many who fought and sparred with Cooper said he was the hardest puncher they ever came across. Even more than the likes of Tyson and Lewis.
